Edited because: I cursed, should protect young eyes from curse words
Glad I could help. :P
I appreciate the correction. Gotta memorize it to search on library catalogs and authority records. I’m a professional on library science (like Twi) and getting names like this one right saves A LOT of work.
Schulz it is.
@Ardashir
His name is Schulz, not SchulTz. It’s a common misconception lots of people make, including myself when I was a kid.
“Everybody gets one.”

Maybe being an artist he saw himself in more than just Charlie Brown and, uh…
Yeah what’s there to say?
Okay, that sounds odd.
Wait - sorry, I’ve just read some more proof that seems to contradict my theory and presents a much odder view on things…turns out that his wife’s behaviour to him was the inspiration for Lucy’s love for Schroeder. How this works is beyond me.
Ouch. Sounds like Mister Schultz had a rather unhappy marriage.
It wasn’t just his childhood, he took inspiration from his life at the time the strip was around as well. Lucy, for example, was apparently inspired by his first, ex, wife. In his second, happier, marriage, Lucy began to soften up to Charlie Brown, while his second wife herself inspired Peppermint Patty.
The unusual thing about his first marriage, however, was that Lucy was created and had her distinctive personality come about WHILE SCHULTZ WAS STILL MARRIED TO HIS FIRST WIFE, bringing up suspicious questions about what his first wife was like to him…
Glad I got it good. Thanks for the info.
He was Charlie Brown, his dog was Snoopy (not by name, he made some promise or something that his next dog would be named Snoopy, ergo the comic character), the Little Red-Haired Girl was a girl he had fallen for but had turned him down, and there’s probably plenty more inspiration from his own life we may never even know about.
My 2 bits.
