But then Pandemic tanked because no one cared enough about their Mercenaries sequel or The Saboteur. And then when Free Radical took on the task of making a proper Battlefront sequel, Lucasarts gives them the boot because they got impatient with the developers and were disappointed in how H.A.Z.E turned out.
In any case, Star Wars Battlefront started out as a Battlefield 1942 mod under the title of “Galactic Conquest” in 2002. Lucasarts saw the mod, and they made Star Wars Battlefront based on it.
But still pales in comparison to Elite Squadron.
