I believe so. And that idea raises a lot of hope for Scootaloo eventually learning to fly. After all, when we saw Fluttershy as a filly, she was so bad at flying that it nearly got her killed.

Yes, that’s true. But is she also a year older than Rainbow Dash? Plus, it would fit with the massive bullying she suffered while in flight school, that kind of thing happens often. Fact of the matter, we know very little about their apparent ages.

Fluttershy says at least twice that she’s a year older than Pinkie. She has no reason to lie about it and doesn’t seem like the kind of pony who would.

They don’t have to be the same age, though. Remember, Ponyville is a smaller community with only a single, small schoolhouse. There’s likely students with several years difference between them.
 
That being said, Rarity’s parents don’t exactly look like they’re pushing sixty. And she was the same size as the others wen she got her Cutie Mark. Well, except Fluttershy, who was probably an early bloomer. If you ask me, Rarity puts on the airs of a mature adult, just as she does a posh accent, but when things happen like her meeting a long-time crush like Trenderhoof she shows her true age.

My headcanon for Sunset is that she was time-suspended when she went through the portal so even though she should be in her mid to late 20s, she’s still effectively in her late teens.

Precisely. At times I’m not sure I should hope Rainbow Dash gets on the force (to fix what’s obviously broken) or shouldn’t bother and found her own team.

To be fair, that must have been heartbreaking. Like maybe he’s still plagued by that constant fear. That one day he’ll trip again and they’ll just can him. Not to mention there’s no telling what he’s putting up with on the force as it is. Every presentation of female competitive organizations I’ve seen in fiction has them portrayed as everything short of literally cut-throat.

No they’re not. And that’s what’s wrong with them. Gender domination universally breeds trouble for the dominated gender.

I’ve always headcanoned him as simply the oldest/most senior of the Wonderbolts, making him something around early-to-mid-30ish. Hence why his stylized look is at the front of the poster in S1E1, and the whole thing with his cutie mark being used as the Wonderbolt mark.

It’s assumed the effects of a female dominated country are different on males than they are on females in a male dominated one. X3

Being around a bunch of backstabbing Wonderbolts sure does take a lot out of the lad!

It’s basically just my headcannon, based on the (I think) generally accepted age range of the girls. In terms of Pinkie and Shy, even though Pinkie may generally act immature, I think that’s just how she is (my sister is basically irl Pinkie, so I’m familiar with this). I feel she is very mature underneath the sillyness. She has the ability to ‘snap out of it’ when necessary, and handle things in a mature manner (at times, more so than the rest of the cast). Fluttershy on the other hand, well, my response to Crass should be good enough.
