Background: Moonlight Crystal was born in Manehattan, along with her older siblings Crescent Moon (her brother) and Twinkle Shine (her sister). Moonlight Crystal was no big fan of the city life, and departed for Ponyville, for a more calm, peaceful life. During her time in Ponyville, she had heard about various attacks in Equestria, such as Nightmare Moon, Discord, Queen Chrysalis, and many others. One caught her attention. While returning to her new home in Ponyville, after a trip to the market, she overheard two ponies talking about some stallion named King Sombra and the Crystal Empire. She thought if she went to the castle of the royal sisters, she would find something on the matter. After hours of none stop rummaging, she gave up. On her way out, she found a necklace with a crescent moon charm. Thinking nothing of it, she took it so her time wouldn’t feel wasted for coming here. After a few months, Moonlight grew homesick. For good luck, and what she thought would make her feel better, she was almost always wearing the necklace. The moon charm sparkled, and it often made her want to sing. One cool night, while wearing the charm, she began to sing a beautiful song, and the moon charm started to glow a hot pink. A screech was heard from nearby, and a purple bat flew beside her, landing next to her and began to screech along to her melody. The charm seemed to be making her and the bat feel at peace. Her feeling of being homesick faded, and she was happier then ever. When she stopped singing, the charm stopped glowing and the bat gave her a look as if he wanted to stay. Moonlight kept the purple bat as a pet, and called him Amethyst. Amethyst and Moonlight sang every night, getting better and better as they practiced. Their songs made everyone who heard them feel at peace. Moonlight earned her cutie mark when she sang a melody to a group of arguing animals, and made them forget why they were mad.  
Personality: Stubborn, sarcastic, kind hearted, generous, shy, and a little quick tempered  
Likes: Music, animals, shiny things, star gazing, camping, sweets, and drawing  
Dislikes: Stupid questions, bugs, getting dirty, over the top fancy things, rude ponies, distractions, and being held responsible for others problems
 
Moonlight may be a bit of a snappy bat pony but her generous side often gets the best of her, and she finds herself giving something to the meanest of ponies. She hides her hurt feelings of losing her grandpa, even though it stresses her day and night. She is well capable of hiding emotions, and is also very good at giving others advice.
