Suck it up, bro
I’m guessing you went into the episode with the expectation that, as an AJ episode, it was likely to suck.
I liked AJ in this episode. I always enjoy seeing her get to show off her wisdom. I found all the scenes between her and Coloratura really nice. Little stuff, like how after she got chewed out she used Coloratura’s full name in the next scene to show she was being respectful of Rara’s choices.
I’m a sucker for utter asshole characters, but I like how Svengallop kinda got away with it and I really did get the impression that he works hard.
It came off as otherwise.
Well, nobody liked it, so piss off! >:(
But Pinkie Pride was actually about Pinkie’s character, how her pride hangs on her ability to deliver the best parties, her roles in society, and showed her development in that she handled this breakdown better than her last (part of one).
Cheese Sandwhich was amusing, the problem of the episode was more complicated and more interesting (and lacked a lame one note villain).
Where as everything in the last episode was so one note. I watched ponies for character moments and humor, not for the odd song
Yeah, my favorite episodes of Season 5 are “Castle Sweet Castle” and “Tanks for the Memories”, but I see your point. (I’ve never seen “Amending Fences”, but I’ve heard it’s a good episode.)
I thought this was a really solid episode too. It’s a much better “guest star” episode than Pinkie Pride, at least IMO, which was entertaining but very very obviously a Weird Al Guest Star Episode. Coloratura could have been voiced by anyone and it still would have worked fine. This wasn’t the strongest episode in Season 5 by any means, but it fits in nicely in what’s so far shaped up to be one of the show’s best seasons.
Well, I actually liked the episode. Not just because of the songs.. well actually because of the songs, but it’s nice to see Applejack actually had a friend before meeting the Mane six.
I thought most people did? Or at least realized the plot sucked and the character moments sucked
Wait…you hated this episode?
Think you expected too much from “lets show off the fact this person can sing” the episode.
I thought it was based on a musician - much like Frederic is Frederic Chopin - but I can’t remember the one he’s based off of.
Yes, but why “Parish Nandermane”? That’s rather odd for a pony name.
Besides, Rara’s cute, so who cares?
Parish Nandermane is the harp player from Octavia’s quartet, or at least that’s the tagged name for him on Derpibooru. Coloratura’s harp player seems to be the same pony, going by the silhouette … or more likely the animators didn’t feel the need to create a new harp-playing pony vector for this scene.
And why “Parish Nandermane”?
Most fan theories are stupid. The good ones can be very good, but they are a small minority.
There was alot of speculation centered around the preview from ComicCon. That was one of many.
Personally, I like how everyone assumed this was going to be a CMC episode because you see them for a couple of seconds while Rara is singing.
