My head-canon’s been thinking that there can can be not one, not two but several Equestrian flight teams.
 
There’s these two so far:
 
Wonderbolts - Daytime aerial acrobatic and air superiority team. The regular air force of Equestria. Blue with gold trim. AKA Blue Group.  
Shadowbolts - Nighttime air defense and reconnaissance team - part of Princess Luna’s Night Guard. Purple and black with gold trim. AKA Shadow Group.
 
Also made these up:
 
Stratobolts - High altutude “space and air” research flight team - part of Equestria’s nascent space program. White suits with red trim. AKA Red Group.  
Aquabolts - Sea based tactical air team. Rivals with Wonderbolts in acrobatic competition. Part of Equestrian Navy. Grey suits with blue trim. AKA Grey Group.  
Armybolts - Low altitude tactical and slow heavy-lift for ground units. Part of Equestrian Army. Olive green suits with silver trim. AKA Green Group.

And I’d bet on Windrider stabbing first. He’d try to sideline anyone who he thinks might surpass him, and LD is almost equal to Rainbow Dash. LD is very much “with me or against me,” and as far as she knows, Windrider is with her, so she’d never see it coming.
