It’s impossible now but when I look at thus, part of me wishes they could have done it like the ‘after the apocalypse’ story from Justice League when Superman meets the good but insane Vandal Savage. He helps save Savage and in return Savage tells Superman how to stop this world from coming into being.
 
Then at the very end, we see Savage Starlight Glimmer sitting in despair in the shattered ruins of Canterlot. A pair of ghostly-looking ponies walk past and she gapes in shock. More start walking by as she says, “Please. Be real.”
 
Then the ruins all about her start to vanish, replaced by Canterlot, more magnificent than ever. Tears of joy in her eyes, Starlight smiles for the first time in what feels like forever before noticing that she’s fading. She closes her eyes and says, “Twilight. Thank you.”
 
And she’s gone.

Almost everything is dead.

My first hypothesis is that the plunder seeds sucked the life and magic out of everything.  
My second hypothesis is that the parasprites ate absolutely everything before dying off. (Not likely in my opinion).

I’m going to remember this if I see starlight chumming it up with the mane six in season six. Not saying she’s irredeemable, but possibly bringing about the end of ALL LIFE is not something one rushed song and a hug can make up.
