Well that’s a very lose use of the term “realistic”, since if you were to actually be realistic then we’d have everyone freaking out about magic. Scientists, police, secret services and the military would be there to at least try to understand what the hell happened in that school.
 
We’d also most likely not see Sunset ever again. :v

What was so bad about it? It’s one of the few times in a kids show were redemption was handled realistically. The other students know damn well what Sunset did and are justifiably pissed at her for it. We then have an entire movie where she is basically pushed around yet she accepts it as some karmic punishment, only to have her moment to shine at the climax. We have an real character arc for the redemption plot which is better than most kid shows would do.

And even they weren’t exactly all hugs and sunshine about it. I seem to recall Rainbow Dash and Rarity both going off on her at once for something she did while trying to help. Yeah, it was a stressful moment, but wow, that had to be painful.

Oh yeah, I had the same thoughts when Discord got reformed.
 
I love the guy, but he was such a cool villain that it feels like a waste. Doesn’t help that both characters got reformed on episodes that show them at their most villainous (well, in Discord’s case it was how he manipulated Yellowquiet to give up her element… Or at least it looked like that until the end).

I like both Sunset and Starlight, but their motives as villains were pretty lame imo.

At least there’s a chance that Season 6 show us more of reformed Starlight. Maybe she’ll be an interesting good guy.
 
Of course, Sunset had to advantage of being a lame villain so everything they did with her in the second movie could be considered a huge improvement. Starlight on the other hand was a great bad guy with a unique motivation for a FiM villain. That makes it a lot harder to accept that she became nice.

The thing is, unless they pull a “Twi flying during MMC”m Starlight is not getting a “second movie”. She just got a musical montage and now she’s best friends with the mane cast and the people from equal town.
