If I was less lazy I would solve this.  
Many things in this equation cancels out almost immediately.

We are using the show’s standards; algebra is far beyond that.

That is probably because the result is an equation, rather than a value; those numbers would make the denominator equal to zero, causing division by zero, which is why they are not possible answers. Ultimately, this breaks down to  
(x-10)(x+1)(x-2)(x+2)/  
(x-2)(x+3)(x-1)(x+1)  
which further simplifies to  
(x-10)(x+2)/  
(x+3)(x-1)
 
Also, the only reason -2 is not an answer is due to the left side of the equation.

How is this fancy mathematics? It’s pretty much what Monikerpending said. Simple algebra.

All this demonstrated is that dividing by a fraction is the the same as multiplying by its reciprocal.

It looks more like aa “•” to me and that would make it a multiplicational.

Plugging it into Wolfram Alpha, x can be any value except -3,-2,-1,1, or 2.
