From OP “I saw a handful of bronies making the same connection that I did that Starlight is Zaheer from the Legend of Korra but I haven’t seen fan art yet and I got tired of waiting so I made my own.”
zaheer’s the only one shown onscreen to live with what he did and learning that while his goal is admirable (to an extent) the unforeseen variables proved him wrong in the long run.
makes you wonder what would’ve have happened if suyin accepted the role as leader of the earth kingdom though. kuvira wouldn’t have grown in power.
He himself lost everything, but the point of each season finale seemed to be that the villains’ goals were achieved, just in a more mild form than what they wanted.
Amon: Wanted equality between benders and non-benders in Republic City by way of turning benders into non-benders
Actual events: The appointed Council of Republic City was abolished and the first President was elected, who happened to not be a bender.
Unalaq: Wanted to unite the Water tribes and open the portals between the spirit and the physical realms
Actual events: … The portals were opened and Vaatu was defeated.
Zaheer: Wanted a more balanced world by way of what he described as a “natural order”, rejecting monarchs as examples of an artificial institution
Actual events: Well, though the Queen met a violent end, he did start a discussion of sorts about the role of strict hierarchy in the Earth Kingdom.
Kuvira: Thought that the new king cared only about himself, which he did initially, and considered herself to be a more capable ruler that the kingdom needed
Actual events: The new Earth King stepped aside, realizing he wasn’t up to the job, paving the way for a sort of Earth Federation.
if only starlight had a scene equivalent to kuvira manually firing the spirit gun…
He lived over 4000 years ago.
@Heroine Addict
Yeah I was thinking Kuvira toward the end of the S5 finale too.
She is most like Amon in her first appearance, but her motives and backstory remind me more of Kuvira (troubled childhood, tried to create a place where she’d never feel that way again, went too far and caused serious damage, was finally stopped by Korra/Twilight showing her compassion).
I thought it looked like one of the many variations of Lex Luthor.
