My guess rarity’s grandpa.
We see a picture of him in Carousel Boutique in Issue 42 of the comics… With that and this together, I guess he’s practically confirmed as a Rarity relative. My money’s on him being Hondo’s brother, too.
Doesn’t look all that old, though. My guess is Hondo Flanks’ older brother.

The Magnum pony’s showed up in the comics before; I remember him in Return of Queen Chrysalis, at least. Maybe more places too that I can’t remember.

Agreed. It’s the fun kind of silly.
I often ask myself such questions when going about fantasy worlds. The easy explanation is that yes, they have eyes since they can see and they don’t shift around or anything like that. They aren’t ‘physical’ like ours, but more like magical templates.

Blinding your opponent is a viable tactic, especially when said creatures are based on the concept of shadows.
The big guy is a ponified Magnum from “Magnum, P.I.”; if I remember correctly, Andy Price is a fan of the show. Since Rarity’s dad kind of looks like Magnum anyway, he’s drawn them together a couple of times.
The other one is Magnum PI
