(I’m not looking at the comments though, looks more like another pointless debate about the quality of the show and whether it’s going through seasonal rot and such…)
@PonyPon
As I said, I know it’s a dream, but I took the fact that it happened at all as a sign that RP was still a viable solution. Frankly I see no reason to think that the Rainbow Power can’t be activated again, the fact that they’ve had no occasion to use it doesn’t mean they can’t.
Unless you have read a tweet from a staff member or something that said that RP is done, you saying that it was completely spent is pure headcanon. One that I would gladly subscribe to, since I didn’t like the design, but still pure speculation.
@PonyPon
Why would Rainbow Power be a one time thing?
In “Do princesses dream of magic sheep” Luna dreams that the girls blast her with RP, so I’m pretty sure it’s still an option. They just didn’t have an occasion to use it since Tirek. Although I would be happy to never see that gaudy transformation again.
@Hackron
“Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer” comes to mind.
Luna was forgiven for her actions, but was so torn up by guilt she created a monster to literally torment her every night.
Discord pretty much always had to live in fear of being blasted by the elements, especially since they could readily call him back. He betrayed them once, but he had his magic ripped out from his body and now the main six have another rainbow power that could stone him if he did so again.
Sunset was hated until she proved herself in her second appearance.
Diamond’s a child and children can be dicks. Trust me on this, they grow out of it…mostly. I trust the writers to do her justice.
Starlight was forgiven, but under the circumstances that the main six would keep a close eye on her. Applejack even voices this concern that they can’t just let Starlight go on her merry way and Twilight agreed, which is why she wants to keep a very close eye on her.
I believe the show’s done well enough with it so far. You might not like some of it, but they’ve always gotten it done better in post, if you didn’t like the moment of redemption.
@Evowizard25
It wouldn’t be so bad if some of these reformed characters were at least held accountable for what they did instead of just getting off scot-free.
@Hackron
The show has always been better at post-redemptions though, showing the effects and efforts of someone changing for the better, as well as showing some can still slide backwards like with Discord. Also, there are a number of villains/antagonists that haven’t been redeemed versus that have.
Fairy Tail has the same sort of message and that’s why I love both. Not everyone can be redeemed, as they both have some that would never change their ways, but there can be if given the chance for others.
The whole “everyone can be easily redeemed and forgiven no matter what they did” shtick is a big part of the reason I am losing interest in mlp, both show and comics.
I know this show is all about the power of friendship, but this is ridiculous.
@Jades
Sue’s been used so much that it’s lost all meaning on me. It’s better to say you don’t like her. That’s fine. I don’t like Chrysalis really. I find her boring and kind of an idiot.
@Jades
Meh, I didn’t have a problem with it because she kind of earned it. It’s not like they wouldn’t try and make up for it later as well as they tried to calm her down before and she just blew up on them.
I found sympathy in Starlight quite easily so there wasn’t any ‘un-sympathy’
I’d expect for the Mane 5 to actually be friends and figure out what was wrong with her. Instead they just straight out abandon her on the balcony. This finale made a lot unsympathetic honestly.
@Jades
Shining Armor was being mind controlled, so I don’t have anything against him.
Twilight was being an idiot through the first half. She was judging someone on the basis of a bad day, hell, while Cadance is a terrible actor none of her actions were that terrible, nor did Twilight try and talk with Celestia or Luna who could have helped her. Perhaps that never came to mind, but I just didn’t care. So no, it didn’t bother me that she was left to cry. I didn’t have it out for the others and it’s Twilight’s fault that it happened. Really, what was she supposed to expect when she just calls someone evil with no proof and causes the person to break down into tears and run off while being smug about it?
@Jades
The rest of the mane 5? I had no problems with them and could understand not believing Twilight about someone they don’t bloody know. I found more issues with Twilight being an idiot and a ton of others that irk me so much that it’s my least favorite two parter.
Canterlot Wedding failed because apparently the rest of the Mane 5 forgot to be friends.
This is jarring because as I stated below it doesn’t match the current Starlight. That and the flaw the show pointed out and tried to fix isn’t Starlight/s actual problem.
@Jades
Is it really that jarring? I’ve seen the episode a few times and it never jarred me in the slightest. Unlike in A Canterlot Wedding with…..so much it wasn’t funny.
Her tiny piece of the puzzle is still what matters the most to Starlight. If this event hadn’t happen she wouldn’t started hating Cutie Marks. I don’t have a problem with it being a small piece. I’m saying that small piece won’t be in conjecture with the rest of the picture.
I don’t really care much for Sunset’s backstory honestly just gave her a slice of character so it wasn’t as jarring.
With Starlight Her backstory is incredibly jarring for even get start of Darkness doesn’t fit. Her hatred of Cuter Marks and the way it’s presenter doesn’t match up at all.
As for Discord I honestly think he should be in Tartarus all things considered.
The main characters doing it doesn’t really excuse it. I mean I found Dash entirely unsympathetic in Ranks for Memories.
Exactly! Siege Sombra is best Sombra.

“Radiant Hope is not impressed with your misery”
Because it only happened once when the box opened and the box has been expended.
And I can’t believe anyone is still citing that dream to be indicative of reality.

The Rainbow Power was a one-time thing.
They have nothing to hold over him.
And he’s the very one who forced that circumstance.
“Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer” comes to mind.

Well I couldn’t really find any ‘sympathy’for Starlight. She felt way too much like a sickening Villain Sue.

You didn’t have a problem on how they just left her on the balcony flat out crying?
I’m not even going to bother with the villain ball Chrysalis has though.
The rest of the mane 5? I had no problems with them and could understand not believing Twilight about someone they don’t bloody know. I found more issues with Twilight being an idiot and a ton of others that irk me so much that it’s my least favorite two parter.
