Well in my grade school our science teacher kept telling the students that we weren’t special or irreplaceable and that if we all died the sun would still rise tomorrow and the world would care nothing for our deaths.
 
In fact he spent so much time telling us things like that I honestly can’t remember a single bit of actual science from his class.

if ponyville is exactly the same then not much happens there. magic shows, bear attacks, giant glass domes, if those don’t change a place, then ponyville stays the same no matter what.
 
so if ponyville stays the same, then even if trixie is practically a zero, she is still the biggest thing to happen to it…

awww, it is nice to see the spirit at least know what roads not to go down. I don’t think there would have been enough time left for Trixie to cry herself out if the spirit had finished that lesson.
 
I mean, it’s potentially a good lesson, but, that spirit would really need to stick around for more than a night to help Trixie get through it and not become a depressed mess for the next few weeks.

This comic took a surprising turn for the strangely heartwarming. For all that she gets annoyed by Trixie and how she once gave her such a mighty verbal castigation, the Christmas Ghost does seem to genuinely have Trixie’s best interest at heart, so she doesn’t want to simply tear her down. Pulling the It’s a Wonderful Life card to show how little she meant to Ponyville would have been a bit too mean-spirited a vision for the ghost to stick to.
