Five years have definitely not passed in the show yet. It is implied that only one year had passed since the beginning of the show and the season 4 premier.

Glad to see the both of you sharing viewpoints. Twilight had to have been quite young during her magic exam, something around the whole 7-8 range when she hatches him. Lauren said Celestia raised him after he hatched and when twilight was employed in the local library, Spike was employed as her assistant. Twilight was “quoted” by Lauren as being 20-21 when the series starts, which would easily make spike in the range of 13-14 when it starts. Now, 5 years have passed. Even if he was only 13 when the series started, he’d be 18 now, legal a plenty in most places in our world.
Exactly. Some Bronies are just impossible to argue with. It’s also why I’ve given up arguing with people who don’t like EqG. The same thing goes for people who don’t like Spike and are adamant that they know everything about him. Glad to know other people realize he’s a good character and isnt just a little kid.
I’m glad to hear that. I’m engaging myself in the fandom for more than two years now and you’re only the second brony I meet who understands how old Spike really is and that he isn’t a baby/child anymore.
Most don’t get it, despite tons of evidence from the show, and it really drives you crazy when you explain them and they just don’t get it.

Spike was a teenager when Twilight came to Ponyville, Now he’s almost adult.
Even if we would go by Earth’s strict social and love standards, a relationship with him and Rarity would be perfectly acceptable.
Aside from the fact that Equestria has completely different social standards anyway and literally no one would care there.
Well, TBH, it’s not like kids in cartoons haven’t kissed before. Wouldn’t be the worst thing.
