It divides the image into sectors, then compares each sector in multiple stages. Clover can explain in more detail.
Also, it uses the first frame of gifs.
I doubt it uses wavelets or anything clever, since Clover said today that interesting computer visual algorithms were ditched in favor of something simple for maintainability reasons.
Any chance of making recent_comments blockable by tag, same as images?
Also there’s a big shiny green link on the search page. Hard to miss.
Feedback is as ever appreciated. Longer term we’re looking at ways to improve on the algorithm used.
