Terribly sorry to actually be discussing the topic of the image and the opinion put forth by it, Old Chap. If we were to begin talking instead about something completely off-topic, would that better suit your delicate sensibilities?
Adult fans were completely absent (or at least a minority in G1 case that was a cheesy 80 incarnation that had it’s charm) because the previous generations sucked (G2 to G3.5)

Oh yes, I absolutely do blame that– pretty much any time fans talk about where and how they watch new episodes, there’s a litany of complaints from people who can’t afford a premium cable/satellite package with Discovery Family, or who live outside the U.S. and don’t get a local dubbed version. I don’t know what the hay Hasbro has been thinking by sticking with DiscoFam instead of jumping to one of the other kid-oriented networks that has a larger international presence, since they’ve put so much focus on overseas markets; the only hypothesis that makes any sense to me is that they’ve got some kind of concurrent deal with iTunes/Netflix/Youtube to deliberately limit the availability of “free” broadcasts.
Well at least we got recognition as a tertiary audience. Better than previous generations where we were all but completely absent. Except for maybe the parents of the target demographic.
