Despite the dress, Emerald manages to duck and squeeze his way to the front of the circle and listens intently to the conversation, though he can’t make out much.
 
“War… Fault… Weapons… Fault… Ponycare… Why…” Is all of Hope’s angry speech that Emerald can make out.
 
“There isn’t anything I can do about it now, my dearest. I wish it didn’t turn out this way, but it did and now we have a duty to protect ourselves.” The large stallion says. His voice is so strong that even though he is whispering it easily carries to Emerald.
 
Hope just seems to get angrier at this answer, and in response she gets harsher, talks faster, and somehow goes quieter. Now Emerald can’t hear anything she is saying.
