That’s “how it came across” to you, maybe, but your personal impression of it is no more universally applicable than all the people who ignorantly thought it came across as “communism”. Glimmer was a creep who confused interchangeability for equality and believed that any differences between people made friendship impossible, and that’s it. If there was any political message at all in the S5 Premiere it was about the dangers of refusing to compromise, which is hardly the exclusive failing of any particular political leaning.

Eeeeeeexcept for the part where her doofy ideology was explicitly a commentary that friends don’t have to all be exactly the same and agree with each other all the time, and Big Jim said outright that it had nothing to do with the Smooth Jazz Waluigis that some people are so very very scared of for some reason. It was clearly and unambiguously a message that you can still be close friends with someone even if you disagree about things and don’t have much in common, and anything else that politically-motivated arglebarglers try to read into it is nothing more than politically-motivated arglebarglers trying to read something into it.
 
Seriously, look at how Glim-Glam and her whack ideas were presented, without trying to imprint any personal political views on the story. If the point had really been to mock TEH EEBUL ESS JAY DUUBAYOOZ!!1!, at least some part of the focus would have been on SG being a white knight trying to stand up for Ponies who never asked for her “help” because she expected some kind of praise or profit from it, but there was absolutely none of that– she had a crack theory about differences destroying friendships and set up a dumb cult village for like-minded Ponies, then went all totalitarian to keep them there once they got buyer’s remorse and realized they’d made a mistake. That’s it. There was no crusade on the supposed behalf of others involved, and not even any effort to expand her cult outside of her secluded mountain village until Princess Twilight showed up.

Good to see that other bronies recognize Starlight Glimmer as what is essentially a commentary on social justice warriors.
