Because usually savoury pies are made with a savoury style crust. By the looks of Soarin’s face, it may have been a sweet crust.

But then why isn’t chicken pot pie considered a gross combination? Isn’t that a mixture of dessert-like pie crust and chicken? Why aren’t people weirded out by that? ’Cause I sure was when I first heard about it.
Oh, if the pie is made like a quich it’s probably really good.
There are simply certain foodstuffs that were never meant to be twain – gravy and Skittles, Worcestershire sauce and corn flakes, and most certainly broccoli and pie.
THIS IS WORSE THAN SOMETHING BEING LABELED AS AN APPLE PIE, TURNS OUT THAT IT WAS ACTUALLY RAISINES AND CLOVE.
