I think they could take any group, any place and still make it work. Equal village, rock farm, Manehattan - I’d love to hear all of their untold stories, they’re still blank slates. The main show has IMHO too many characters to feature them all at reasonable intervals right now.
I suppose the people in charge aren’t confident they can make something without Twilight and still sell it at the moment. I wish they at least diversified a bit with an 11-minute-long series, or maybe some shorts. Now this would make hiatuses less inconvenient.
what about a spin-off involving Cranky Doodle’s travels or the Wonderbolts
Maybe Trixie could have that “jerk with a heart of gold” trope. Wouldn’t be my first choice for a spin off but I know others would like it.
How about a spinoff about Moondancer and the other Canterlot ponies?
I mentioned Daring Do earlier but it would have to be an action/adventure cartoon, but would still be likely marketed towards little girls, so that might not work.
Yeah, there’s way too much material to work with at this point. I myself would love to see Trixie traveling around Equestria, visiting all the places there are to see and, I don’t know, solving problems she encounters? I’m always eager to see more of their world.
But I guess it only makes sense to “advertise” the same set of toys with one show…
Background pony spinoff? Well, Slice of Life is probably the closest we’ll get.
Dazzlings spin-off, Crystal prep spin-off, Daring Do spin-off, background pony spin-off, or a spin-off with griffons and yaks and even diamond dogs for good measure… The possibilities are endless.
