So, to summarize last comment, yes, government intervention prevented companies from adjusting their prices to distribute the goods, so stupid and/or political powers in control of the paper can lead to failures in its distribution, but I still doubt that producing more paper with historical figures on it would suddenly make more goods grow everywhere. Instead you just devalue your currency and that hurts your economy.

Companies see themselves about to fall and have to fire a bunch of people or declare bankruptcy altogether, thus the infrastructure that produces - but just as important, that distributes (transports, stocks shelves, sells at stores) the food fell apart.

If that weren’t the case, then the price of foods would have plummeted along with everything else as a massive excess in supply would allow vendors to drop prices in efforts to undercut eachother.

Say you’re selling food, and everyone’s dirt poor, so nobody’s buying. What do you do? Lower your prices, of course. What about your provider, you can’t sell them for less than you’re buying them from the producers, right? Well, if the other companies are running into the same issue, then neither they nor you can buy their products at that price, so producers are put in the same position you are: they must either lower their prices or go out of business for not being able to make enough sales.

The two biggest problems are actually what the government did in response to the depression, (locking prices prevented the adjustment listed above from happening) and companies falling apart due to that government intervention. Similar market dives have actually happened since The Great Depression, but haven’t resulted in the same sort of event because the markets were allowed to adjust and compensate.

So, for whatever providers remained is business somehow, yes, there was food, but because prices were locked so they weren’t allowed to lower their prices by the government, they weren’t able to distribute it.

As opposed to say, the Soviet Union where there wasn’t any food to begin with. Or how North Korea is now. Or Cuba. Or Venezuala. Or Cambodia. Or pretty much any other communist or socialist state (and don’t even try mentioning Switzerland - they’re failing to replace their population so they’re dying, they sit on the world’s banks, and their defense is paid for by capitalist industrial superpowers - ie, the United States is pretty much NATO’s sword and shield, so the other NATO nations hardly need a military. That’s also why the U.S. has such large military spending - we’re paying for all of NATO’s military, more or less. In return we get vital strategic positions and shared technologies. Fun fact: the main gun on the M1 Abrams tank is of German design).

printing paper with historical figures on it doesn’t magically generate food, goods, services and commodities.
The funny thing is that during the Great Depression, there was no shortage of food and goods, there was only a shortage of money available to purchase them.

This reminds me of the animation error in the same scene where Pinkie literally had a right wing:

What the heck is going on to her left!? O.o

All four legs accounted for. Body is up above them, horizontal. Mane covers the back of the neck… But then there’s something ELSE O.o

Circled, dotted line is kind of its projected shape behind Pinks.

Anyways, I’m not really going to argue, because if you disagree, that’s fine, but I’m just gonna leave that and say you can’t seriously believe that just because someone disagrees with you they’re evil. I’m just kind of fed up with “right wing” = evil and “left wing” = angels being portrayed and stated everywhere.

And here I thought Dems loved to preach about understanding others’ viewpoints, and being reasonable instead of just making accusations…

>Your paychecks come from wealthy people and businesses employ people, so being harsher on them means less jobs for everyone. We like this system, because if the government gives you everything and

A) You don’t have to work - most people won’t, and we’ll all starve because people have to work to generate wealth - printing paper with historical figures on it doesn’t magically generate food, goods, services and commodities. Soviet Russia learned this one with mass starvations, much like every other communist state to ever exist, like Cuba, Venezuala, China (that switched to a capitalist economy because they saw it worked better), North Vietnam, North Korea, Cambodia…

B) You do have to work: in which case, when someone is made to work for someone else, cannot turn this offer down, it is enforced at gunpoint (ie, by law), but they’re given housing, medical care, etc… That’s called slavery. But your affinity of slavery makes sense, since the Republican party was formed because neither the Wigs nor Democrats would oppose slavery, and the democrats fought abolition tooth and nail and passed the Jim Crow laws. It was Abraham Lincoln, the second Republican nominee and first Republican president ever, who abolished slavery, and a Democrat, John Wilkes Booth, who shot him. Anyways, although this (forcing people to work) is what those countries listed above did, they still faced the problems of A).

>Not denying women healthcare, denying them healthcare paid with money forcibly taken from you, ie, unlike Dems we don’t try to bribe people with their own tax money.

>Wanting to avoid “Neville Chamberlain moments” =/= wanting war. It means not sticking your head in the sand and pretending that a warlike state in the middle of a terrorist hotbed is enriching nuclear material for peaceful purposes (using processes that can easily create weapons-grade material).

You asked for it.

This represents Republicans pretty accurately. They aren’t nearly as cute and kind as these ponies, though.
