This could be a sequal to Nigh Anything. In it we see just how Cadance and Shining began having their afare while Twilight Sparkel was learning at Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns.

My god, it’s so adorable how Spike is nestled like that in Shining’s legs XD Maybe Spike’s the prize for the game, whoever wins gets to snuggle him lol And by the looks of it Shining’s not wanting to give up his little bro without a fight.

…Or she’s not moving the queen, but capturing it. In that case, Shining’s still in trouble, since there’s nothing he can do about the knight. That would make more sense given the board setup.

Let’s see… Well, the black king is currently in check from the white knight at d8, so Cadance must be moving her queen from either c7 or b6 to capture it. Since nothing else could capture the queen from there, Shining must have made an incredibly stupid move last turn - depending on where the queen moved from, he either failed to notice Cadance’s queen right next to his knight (c7) or, even worse, wasted a perfectly good opportunity to capture the queen with his bishop (b6). No wonder Cadance looks so smug and he looks so grumpy.
