@Irvau I think there has been a misunderstanding concerning what I meant. I did not mean to imply in any way that the universe was sentient or had priorities. I meant that it is unfortunate that it doesn’t have sentience or priorities that cater to the wellbeing of living creatures (nature is barbaric).

@Genevamode
You make a decent point. Not sure about not telling others, cuz I feel there may some rare exceptions, but amen to the second. Do it right if you’re gonna do it, mate. Don’t be a wuss.

That last one, though, I gotta disagree. Saying that the universe “doesn’t care” feels a bit too… romantic, for lack of a better word. In my view, that’s falling into the pit of thought that most of us humans tend to have - we just have to make everything like us. That tree over there? It’s old and big, so it is like a wise sage. The lightning? It’s loud and deadly, it obviously hates us and is out to kill us.

By implying that the universe can care and not care, that implies that the universe has priorities much like any other human. That, combined with the statement that it doesn’t care about our well-being, means that we are insignificant to it, and that we are not loved by it. It’s a nice depressing sentiment and all which can easily lead to hopelessness, but there’s just one problem - the universe isn’t a human being.

Kids aren’t born with horrible disabilities simply because the universe doesn’t love them enough - that’s just the way things happened. It sucks, and it really is a sad situation for the kid (especially where you note that some kids are painfully reminded of the good life before), but that’s how it happened. Life is life. Just as that poor kid has a disability, I am a human being. Cars exist. The oceans are made up of water. Etc, etc.

Some things in life suck, and that’s just the way it goes. I don’t really see any reason why anyone should reasonably go simply because of that - who commits suicide because things are normal?

Now, what I can understand is if a person feels like committing suicide because of how things have gone in their life. They had the misfortune of being in this environment or that, or they messed a good deal of shit up, and they want out. I get that.
I just find it irritating whenever people try to romanticize how bad the world is by assigning the universe a personality.

Anywho, that’ just my point of view. Presented in an argument-like way. :3 pls no kill

tl;dr version: I would say ‘go’, but it’s your choice. Think about it long and hard.

I first want to say that I’m very sorry you’re suffering this much. I feel the same way on a daily basis and I simply can’t think of a sufficient adjective to describe it.

As for ‘stay’ or ‘go’: The choice is yours, but whatever you do, don’t tell anybody about your suicidal feelings unless you’ve firmly decided to live. They are highly likely try to intervene “for your own good” (how ironic), out of ignorance and a desire to do what’s socially acceptable (allowing a suicide most certainly isn’t).

Think about your choice long and hard. If you decide to go, please, do a favour - for the emotional wellbeing of yourself and the financial/emotional wellbeing of others - and ensure you don’t fail and become disabled. Do your research and prepare correctly. If failure happens you may have to live your entire life in a state that’s utterly unlivable and it’s highly unlikely others will be merciful or rational enough to allow you a peaceful passing. People are generally more concerned about the preservation of life than the quality of it, which I think is absurd.

If it were my choice, I would say ‘go’, because I simply can’t see how anything could improve. The world slips further into fascism by the day, human nature is dubious at best, and the universe itself is actually quite cruel and uncaring. Look at the animal kingdom, innocent children born with horrific disabilities and afflictions - or worse acquiring them later on, thus being forever tormented by knowing how much better life used to be. Planets colliding and stars exploding for no greater purpose. The universe clearly doesn’t care about our wellbeing, and for that reason I certainly hope that there is no god.

For that reason that the universe is uncaring, I personally think the people spewing out all the tired platitudes such as “think of your family” and “it gets better” aren’t being fully honest with themselves. Same goes for people who try to pile on me for not towing the suicide prevention party line.

Back to you, OP. Whatever choice you make, I hope you find peace.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Stay.

You may not think so, but your friends are all around you… and their lives wouldn’t be the same without you in it.

They will be there to save you from the brink. When you are at your lowest point, convinced that you belong nowhere, contribute nothing, and have no friends they will be there to prove just how wrong you are. And somewhere down the line, when those who helped you most find themselves in the very same situation, you can finally repay the favor.

We’re all in this together, kid.

If by “this is a call for help” you mean to express real life thoughts about suicide, please don’t be afraid to reach out for more direct support. There are always people willing to listen.
