I’m all about the little floofy tuft. I prefer the nice velvety smooth tail with a soft little floof at the end.
Gonna throw my hat in with this as well.
Especially for this particular image, without shading, her backside is just a solid mass of orange, and tail ridges would work really great to break that up.
Agreed tail ridge is best.

He still is, unfortunately. I really shouldn’t give too many details, but he was injured very badly. He is recovering, though; it’s just a matter of time and all.
On the plus side though, me and him during a Skype chat decided it’d be fun to team up and do one of these entries for Tatzlponies, since apparently he has an entire headcanon for how they work as a species.
I dunno all heard was that he was in the hospital.
