I must agree. The animators knew the key ingredients to pull off such a heart wrenching scene where she smiles at the beginning only to have it wipe away to reality that he is not all their and come to except it in this situation even if she follows it up with a hug. Its almost as if she has the feeling that he may never be the same again.

Gotta love the juxtaposition.
It’s not just Cadance’s smile and optimism slipping away from the sight before her, it’s her wide side of emotions clashing against a motionless, dead-eyed Shining.

Emotional yes, but I won’t call that scene underrated. It is one of the key scenes of the whole finale. Just after your gif stops, her magic is breaking the curse and their love renews the spell. So in a way, perfect for the date.

I had a really strong and inexplicable emotional response to the wedding eps – I think the modern parlance would be that I got /wicked feels/ from them although I’m not a cool teen so I won’t phrase it like that – which still confuses me case I usually don’t react like that to narrative fiction.
