Emerald leaves the room and goes into the hallway.
 
He makes his way down the stairs quietly. He listens closely for the speech of a pony, or the clops of their hooves and the clanging of their armor. If he hears anything he’ll need to dash back up because the staircase just spirals down with no alcoves to duck into.
 
Eventually he reaches another door while walking. Trying to divine what is on the other side, he puts his ear up to it and once again hears nothing. He sticks his nose close to the edge of the door, and there is definitely a metallic tang in the air.
 
Emerald isn’t sure this goes outside. The colt feels like he hasn’t walked down enough stairs yet to reach ground level. However the spiral staircase could be tricking his senses, and it’s possible that this room simply leads to another staircase that will take him further.
