Emerald takes one of the nearby spears up.
 
It’s a lot heavier than it looks, and is more of a cudgel than anything. He begins smacking the wall desperately, and thankfully the loose bricks begin to give way.
 
The colt thinks he hears shouting from above, and quickens his pace. He can hear the clang of what are probably soldier’s armor coming down the stairs, but the hole is still a bit too small for him to get through.
 
Abandoning the attack he drops the spear and dives for the chest, making sure he doesn’t sit on one of the ceremonial knives or anything else he stuffs himself in the box.
 
A few seconds later two soldiers dash into the chamber. They look around, and then one of them brings the hole to the attention of the other.
 
After examining the hole for a second one of the guards says to the other.
 
“Go get help, I’m going after him.”
 
After the other guard runs back up the stairs the leftover guard picks up the spear and begins to hack at the wall himself.
