Say hello to the Duskverse CMC: Apple Sprout (male!Apple Bloom), Rumble, and Dinky Doo.

I wanted the group to have two colts and a filly. So, I turned Apple Bloom into a colt to fit that (I know the typical name is Applebuck, but Apple Sprout sounds and fits the initial theme of growing up better). Apple Sprout’s relationship with Double Diamond is the same as Apple Bloom’s relationship with Applejack. They see each other as brothers.

With Rumble, I wanted to do something different from Rainbow Dash’s relationship with Scootaloo. Rainbow and Rumble hang out because she has a major crush on Thunderlane. Rainbow’s more or less using her relationship with Rumble to get closer to Thunderlane. Rumble is aware of this and allows it because he knows that Thunderlane is madly in love with Rainbow. He doesn’t mind being the middle colt since he’s helping bridge the gap between the two. He wants his older brother to be happy and he knows that Rainbow’s the best mare for him.

As for Dinky, she replaced Sweetie Belle for one reason: Sweetie Belle doesn’t live in Ponyville. In the Duskverse, Sweetie lives in Canterlot with Rarity since they don’t have the best parents in the world. Rarity takes better care of Sweetie than their parents do, so it was decided that the two sisters would live together.
