Emerald dashes for the light at the top of the tunnel. The light blinds him temporarily as he steps out, the colt almost runs straight off a cliff on the other side. It’s quite a long drop into the forest below.
 
Emerald doesn’t even know where he is. He wishes now that he had taken more time to look at maps of the the Middle Kingdom.
 
Emerald hears shuffling from behind him, and the two monsters climb out into the light.
 
Emerald draws his knife and makes the best intimidating roar he can.

The monsters are unimpressed.
