Technically not synonymous, but see previous message. There is effectively no visual difference between pegacorns (pegasus + unicorn) and alicorns (pegasus + unicorn + earth pony). Sure, the latter tends to be taller and may or may not do some neat things with body abilities and plants, but…
They have wings, they have horn, they’re anthro ponies, therefore alicorns. You can’t exactly show earth pony talents in an unrelated picture.
Pegacorns and alicorns are synonymous. Plus, I don’t think we have a word for winged, horned zebras. (The stripes on his face may mean nothing. lol)

Actually our chars are not alicorns. But no one cares.
There is a tag. it’s called “alicorn oc”.
