Maybe, or it could be one of those dreaded cartoon bees that don’t die even when they sting.
Only honey bees, and only because their stingers are designed to sting other (enemy) bees or small animals rather than giant things like griffons.
I’ve talked with this artist before – he prefers the bee will be fine and the stinging victim doesn’t have an allergy etc
