Don’t care, it’s effing adorable.
Well, it is IDW…
That’s sorta the opposite of how it really is. Spike being a person is a significantly bigger burden than if he were a pet.
And… think of it like this: the problem is that Twilight is in way over her head and not a good caretaker for a child. She doesn’t know this is a child, but the fact that he is a child and not a pet doesn’t change the fact that Twilight is overburdened and can’t cope with it.
The fact that she sees Spike as a person, and not a pet, doesn’t change the fact that he’s a burden she’s not ready for.
And, like, it’s not really clear at the end if she’s his sole caretaker or not? She even has a big public meltdown and (unless we’re missing pages from the comic) no adult thinks to say “maybe we shouldn’t burden her with this” or “we need to have a talk with Twilight about this.”
There are ways to make this make sense… But the comic didn’t do any of those. So we’re left with an incomplete feeling ending, where there are dawws but it doesn’t really… fix any of the issues the comic has.
“Oh Twilight. Why did you think you had to take care of Spike all by yourself? All you had to do was ask for help.”
I mean Celestia did say that now that Twilight was there she could help. Not do it all by herself. Seems more like Twilight overreached.
Edited
I don’t know. I think to this point, she saw Spike as a burden and not actual friend. Now while she still has to take care of him, there’s a degree of understanding that he’s not just a creature but sentient. He’ll still be a hassle but something less to stress about.
Yeah that’s the major problem I had with the comics. It’s a sweet one don’t get me wrong but it’d pretty much filler. Nothing…. really got solved.
I mean, this is a sweet page, but the actual problem isn’t resolved.
So he likes Coco Pommel with two Rarity clones?
Her first BABY friend, at least.
