She has come off as pretty sincere. Even if it was a trick at first, I think her time with the ponies would convince her to stay.
 
It’d be interesting, though. I can imagine an epic scenario where she starts a betrayal, only to regret it part way through and have to intervene against the forces she set in motion.
 
The kind of thing that happened in the original Ice Age, Lion King 2, Over the Hedge, or even Star Wars, to some extent, when Vader threw Palpatine down the hole.
