Oh, that’s the pony? She’s cute. Must be a coincidence, but I have to admit that she does resemble a bit the Honey of BH6. I get why the called her like that now. It just happens that her name works so well as a pony name. It’s perfect.

Eh, I just kinda like the name because horse cop pun actually feels natural to me. I honestly do not see it as forced.

But I respect your (and everyone else’s) view of the name, thanks for articulating it. :)

And this was the Honey Lemon pony I was talking about (if you haven’t already searched her up)

We don’t know for sure whether the Honey Lemon pony was based on the actual BH6 character, but that didn’t stop people from naming her that.

I didn’t know there was a Honey Lemon pony, but one thing you have to keep in mind is that “Honey Lemon” actually passes as a pony name. So it feels natural.

I know what you mean about “Judy Clopps” not being necessarily being a reference, but that’s exactly the point of such name and the sole reason OP started this thread. To try to make it a reference to the Zootopia character. And that’s it. It’s not really about the background pony herself. They just want something to catch on. Putting aside that it sounds forced. “Judy”? That’s just a regular name. “Clopps”? Because she’s a horse, get it? (Hopps actually serves the same purpose, but it works for Zootopia because their universe and rules are different from the pony one)

And boy, some people sure want to force references, puns and brand names into these background ponies. Even more than before.

I’m not stopping you from treating it as a nickname, though. “Dr.Whooves” is treated like Time Turner’s nickname after all nowadays.

I don’t think it necessarily has to be a reference.

I’m not advocating a name change, but I just don’t think that’s a valid reason to not have a name.

“Oh, ya, y’know how I feel about them Manehattan ponies. They can stay in their own big city, and keep their crime there. Maybe one day they’ll realize that, geez, there’s more to life than a few bits, don’tcha know?”

Cooper Top or Hot Fuzz.

Mind you, I liked Zootopia, but Judy Hopps should stay as herself. This Pony doesn’t need to be an extension of her in any kid of way.
Background Pony #6EAF
Nope. I love Zootopia as much as anyone, but it’s too recent to be used for punning MLP names.

@kircher
Actually, that was a coincidence, not a reference.
