I’d have to agree with NightJack in that I wouldn’t call this a “plothole”. Given that Applebloom’s issue wasn’t that she was unable to find anything she was good at at all, but that she didn’t wish to do something by herself.
Which is why she was shown trying group activities: Rafting, Grape smushing, Art class, Dancing. And said several times during the Dancing segment how she didn’t want to dance alone.
While she is good at potionmaking, it would largely be a solo task, and so she didn’t feel she would enjoy it. Now, at the end of the episode, where she’s realized that them doing something on their own isn’t the permanent situation, she can go back and practice more potionmaking on her own, and enjoy it. It’s just that, at the time, she desired a group activity.
Additional: On the definition of “plothole” itself. I’d say that a Plothole would be a story event or action which has no explanation within the story. So a character forgetting something or missunderstanding something, thus causing them to miss something that would otherwise be “obvious” wouldn’t classify as a plothole, as the reason for its existence does exist, thus “filling in” the hole.

Nobody who agrees is going to comment. People like that just see it and move on. Anyway I proved everyone who commented wrong so they’re obsolete.

Just because more people think one way doesn’t mean it’s right.

I’ve had it.
No, I’m not the one being stupid, YOU are.
Notice how more then me point out out how it wasn’t a plot hole but it;s ONLY you sayong it is?
Seems like you are the one not getting it.
I’m gone, not saying anymore, because you are to thick headed to understand anything told to you.

Can you actually read the whole sentence I make before saying I’m wrong.

“This plot device wasn’t in the past episodes, there is no logic in thinking it’s illogical for that reason.”

Are you seriously stupid? That’s the whole reason it’s illogical. Because it contradicts past episodes.

“They just got their cutie mark the last time we saw them, it contradict that fact to think that doesn’t factor into it.”

Are you forgetting there are more than 2 cmc episodes?

Also it doesn’t matter what the episode is about it still matters. Also you’re trying to tell me I used 1 word wrong in a comic, who’s nitpicking now?

Also when you make an argument use evidence don’t just think you’re right all the time.

>plot device which was completely illogical as in past episodes
This plot device wasn’t in the past episodes, there is no logic in thinking it’s illogical for that reason.

>contradict earlier events
They just got their cutie mark the last time we saw them, it contradict that fact to think that doesn’t factor into it.

The plot of THIS episode isn’t about past episodes.
You are just nitpicking.

A plot device which was completely illogical as in past episodes applebloom has done things without the cmc and freaking out about it now doesn’t make any sense.

“statements or events that contradict earlier events in the storyline.”

Now try and tell me why her stupid behaviour in this episode doesn’t contradict past episodes.

Okay, I really don’t want to have to say any more on this but I want to make it clear how this isn’t a pothole.
This “plothole” is actually a driving part of the plot, so if you remove this “plothole” you tear the plot apart and make it nothing but a plothole.
Apple Bloom’s actions in this was a plot device.

>If a character does something wrong it’s still a plothole.
Not if the plot is about just that…..

>You can use a definition wrong. But I didn’t.
Only, as I pointed out, you did.

>The whole plot is affected by bloom so it is.
Only that is wrong, it’s affected by Bloom because she got upset by misunderstand the reason the CMC where doing all that, the plot was about how she was acting.
If that make it a plothole then her going to things she knew she was good at would of been a BIGGER plothole.

If a character does something wrong it’s still a plothole. She is the centre of the plot as it revolves around her.

You can use a definition wrong. But I didn’t.

The whole plot is affected by bloom so it is.

>Correct your grammar
Gee, it’s like you never heard of typos…..

Being able to apply the definition to the situation doesn’t mean it’s right, you can actually use a definition in an incorrect way as well.
An error in logic on the part of the characters does not mean it’s one on the part of the plot, you keep pointing out the error of Bloom’s logic, not the plots.
So you are using the definition of a plot hole correctly, but applying it to the wrong thing.

  1. Being able to apply the definition to the situation means it works
2.It was about what they enjoyed and were good at and the fact it gained knowledge for helping others only occurred at the end of the episode as something that was a bonus to doing their own activities
  2. The error in logic is that Bloom didn’t go back to making potions when she couldn’t do anything or find anything enjoyable.
  3. She was upset because they had found things they enjoyed and she didn’t find anything not because they did their own thing.
  4. Correct your grammar so I can read your points easier

Looking up the definition of a plot hole doesn’t mean you will instantly understand what it is.
You see it isn’t a plot hole as the plot wasn’t about finding what they where good at, but things they enjoy as well as knowing more things so they can help others.
Something they made clear why they where doing in IN the plot.
As for why Bloom was having a problem, she was looking only for group activates and with that missing the whole reaosn thay where doing all these thing to begin with.
There is no logical inconsistency in the plot and as such, NO PLOT HOLE.

I can’t understand what you’re even saying anymore.

I looked up the definition of a plot hole and applied it to the situation. And now you’re saying that it is a plot hole which is what I’m arguing.

Applebloom didn’t want to do something alone. She made that pretty clear. She was searching for a group activity. Potion making isn’t one.

It is a plot hole because even if the path the show took came out good, it isn’t what should have happened if the writers thought properly. They could have done the plot completely differently if they took the logical option. I know they wanted a moral for the cmc at the end but they way they did it is completely illogical.

But you still call it a plot hole when it wasn’t one, that was my whole point here.
There was no plot hole as the plot was not about them thinking “what am I good at” but “what other things can we do to expand our knowledge so we can better help others”.
Being proficient at one thing doesn’t mean you cant have knowledge of other things in order to be better able to help others.
