@Beau Skunky If I had to hazard a guess, it’s because Shadow has all the trappings of a traditional Gary Stu: dark and edgy to the point of ridiculousness, dual wielding laser pistols on a motorbike, all tortured and anguished, and overpowered to the point where having an OC stronger than Shadow is IN ITSELF a Gary Stu trait.

As for the Sonic series, I feel people would complain less if the company ceased whoring it, or at least made better games without feeling the need to pander to every nitpick.

To be honest, while I’m not a major Shadow fan, I never found him that annoying. I don’t really “get” all the hate for him. In fact, he hasn’t really been that emo/angsty sense the Shadow solo game. (Which story-wise brought closure to his angst issues, and such.) I don’t know, I get tired of people always complaining about the Sonic series all the time honestly.
