So, this is something I rarely make - an episode-related comic (in case you don’t follow - Season 6, Episode 5 - “Gauntlet of Fire”). More precisely, lampshading what actually happened in the episode =P Everyone jumped on SpikexPrincess Ember ship even though she clearly implied…. :P Poor Spike. But don’t worry, I feel your pain.
In all fairness, Rarity doesn’t do a whole lot to discourage this misimpression, particularly when she stands to gain from it, which is often one of her less charming character traits.
MarbleMac is a horrible, horrible idea.

^ That seriously pisses me off. Not even a hardcore Ember/Spike fan, but with the number of porn Ember and Ember/human works out there it’s like people are finding ever excuse to NOT ship emberspike so they can have Ember to themselves. That Spike has to take the hit with fanon “baby” arguments all over again despite what he has accomplished sickens me.
SJWs bend logic and reasoning to fit the “current agenda”, which is “whatever the hell I feel offends me at the moment”. There is so much double think that it’s insane.
As for the foundation of Spike’s feelings, while yes, it was the worst kept secret, where is the point that he confesses his feelings for her TO her? It wasn’t until SomE that it happened, and it wasn’t JUST while falling, but all through his actions through the episode in regards to her.
Also ,when I said “so lets say they DID”, i was speaking in a “what if” scenero if that wasn’t obvious.
And no, I’m VERY aware of Spike’s less-that-prominent personality and willingness to step forward into a situation.
And I’m aware, but it’s not completely known about ages.
one of the things I recalled was questioning of Faust’s DA profile on the ages of the ponies, and one of the replies stated that “the youngest of the 6 was about 20 when the show starts”.
This was where we got to have an idea of how old Spike was as we guessed in approximation to how old twilight was.
But nowadays, wires are easily crossed and information gets skewed.

blah blah frinedship theme. They can write about pregnancy and marriage so they can also write permanent romance. Get over it that series already changed. Maybe an underaged dragon is unlikely, but they can develop MarbleMac or Sunburst/Stalright further without caring about the theme since friendship is also the part of romantic relationship.

They didn’t though. Faust literally stated Spike was 8-9 years old when the show started. The entire point of the attraction was just a simple way to show that Rarity was hot. That’s all.
The hell? In-universe, Spike’s feels was like the worst kept secret. The fact that EVERYONE was aware of them was a running joke at that time!
Spike’s character is that of a milquetoast who tries to act manly but he’s more deeply in touch with his feminine side, that’s not going to change. That was never going to change. Whenever Spike tried to act macho in the earlier eps, it was meant to be laughed at (hell, it’s still meant to be laughed at).
If the staff was serious about making Spike Rarity’s love interest, they would’ve made his character design, his voice, how he interacts with Rarity, his everything different.
So yeah, Spike is meek. He’s isn’t Fluttershy meek, but he definitely skews in that direction. Even the latest episode utilized this one very consistent trait of Spike’s in how he interacted with Ember and the other dragons. Spike is a living, breathing critique of their over-the-top machismo and really of machismo in general.
You’re not of those Spike fanboys that conveniently forgets that shit, are you?
Young guy/Old woman? I thought SJWs adored that shit because it’s “progressive” or “it challenges the norm” or whatever.
Anyway, I should think people would be more frazzled by the whole pedo angle. Remember what Faust said about Spike’s age…

Maybe it is a little too early to say Ember’s a ship torpedo. We’ll have to see. That said, I do find it rather unlikely that they would make this attractive dragon princess Spike’s friend and nothing else.

Don’t get too carried away about this shipping. The show is about friendship and getting along, not about Spike getting who.
“10-12” is a “teenager”?
Based on what im seeing, the show see him as a teenager rather than a toddler. It could be just a matter of a season or two before he would date Ember.
You may have lampshaded the entire reason the fandom is so hardcore about making said romantic encounters; we’re deprived of them in a show all about love and getting along.
And don’t forget that My Little Pony in general tends to not have any on-screen romance. So the SpikeEmber ship will likely not gonna happen in canon. That’s why we have shipping for.
One problem with your speculation: As recently as last season, the staff still viewed Spike as a little kid. He seems to be maturing this season, but I’d be shocked if the show staff thought he was old enough to be in a serious romantic relationship.
As for Ember being a female character: In case you haven’t noticed, the vast majority of powerful characters (as well as the vast majority of significant characters, period) on this show are female, as befitting a show with a primary audience of little girls.
If the show ever had even slight of intentnion to canonise Sparity, they would turn Ember into a guy. If anything, this episode was a first foundation in sinking the ship and to lead to the episode where Rarity have “the talk” with him (Wendy and Dipper style) while a beautifull Dragon princess is going to serve as the ice for the burn.

Part of the problem is the “eye of sauron” glaring down.
See, if this show was lesser known, it could get away with more. However, it’s hugely popular. Not quite as popular as it used to be, but still popular and a prime money maker of hasbro.
For example, how pregnancy and birth was handled in the “the one where pinkie pie knows” up to “the Crystaling”. They say they are going to have a baby (cadance doesn’t show in the least bit), and then we fast forward to the baby not only being born but being a few days old.
However, on The Lion Guard (huh? what? it’s basically MLP, but with lion king characters), they had a character show pregnancy and start to go into labor.
Now, birth is a natural process and a very beautiful process if you think about it, but there are people who will poo poo and nono you for including it.
Remember when Derpy finally showed up and we loved her, but ONE asshole with a big mouth made Hasbro TANK the original version of her? That was strictly because the show was popular.
The more popular a show is, the harder it is to get away with things and the more people want to pin shit on you.
So lets say they DID intend for Sparity to happen in full. SomE is a good foundation at first to showcase to rarity that he cares for her more than a friend (he didn’t give proper signs before that).
And lets say that after his business with the Dragons, he is no longer a bootlicker or a comedy prop and… for some reason, lets say that he gets the stones to ask Rarity out on a date that would culminate on a cute lip to lip kiss. It would be cute, sweet, heartmelting even.
RETARDS will storm Hasbro with “how dare you have a romance between a younger guy and an older woman” and “how dare you promote bestiality” and other such inane bullshit.
And, because you are a money grabbing company and see threats coming at your prime money maker, you’re gonna yank out what would be “problematic”.
Spike, as far as the show goes right now and unless they let him get a growth spurt of some kind, is gonna be stuck in the friendzone, good or bad, with no hope of the good friend zone being anything more than friends.

Why should he expect anything? See this is exactly why Sparity sucks IMO. It’s not the age thing, this. When you break it down to why it “should” happen, it sounds like a video game quest.
It’s really their fault to keep the beta follower friendship mentality in the first place. If she doesn’t care about you or you aren’t an equal partner toward her, then don’t expect that she will become a girlfrined out of a pity. If she asking you to do her homework or if she asked you to go to the cinema with her, then you have a pretty good indication on what form of a friendship she’s comfortable with. The one that doesn’t actively trying to know you better, is the one that will not go anywhere. And its pretty much the one with Rarity and Spike where she’s only dealing with him where she needs work to be done.
Yes, but someone who’s been jaded by the “lets be friends while I bone other people non stop, but not you “because you’re special” type of friend zone will have a natural issue when a situation comes up during the GOOD friendzone, where it’ establishing eachother’s personalities and real friendship that goes into a long standing romantic relationship.
It will start off with them, yes, being your friend, but the problem is that the people who have been in the “bad” friend zone don’t see how being “friends first” will ever amount to more than following them around and licking their boots, hoping for them to drop some sort of pity on them. So they avoid it and are the kind of people “who want to go right into a relationship”, because friendship, in their eyes, is a lost cause and a sign that it will never amount to more.
On the other hand, him expecting that she will fall for him after knowing him for one day and being that she want to be friends and not lovers also seem like a very stupid thing to expect. Frinedship Is literally the first step in a road between being strangers and lovers.
Bingo, just get out and say it. If he/she don’t want a deep relationship, don’t waste your time with it if that’s what you’re looking for.
There are people out there who want deep relationships and there are people who want simple friends, one night flings, or friends with benefits. You’ll never know until you TALK to them. And I mean face to face, not over shit like facebook where they can hide behind friends and the computer screen.

Yes, though it’s a little complicated. Spike and Rarity (Rarity being the only official canon interest Spike has had) became friends and as the series has gone on, he’s been… her friend. He’s gone to great lengths for her and… got one kiss for giving up his most prized possession and… one kiss for stopping a rampage.
He’s done a lot for her and not gotten a lot in return, so for this comic, he is meeting Ember and she says that they can be friends, and his mind goes right down the drain of “Oh boy, here we go again. See you
never”Really, it’s a waste of time for everybody involved. Not to mention something that could be easily resolved with some direct communication. Just be honest and say you wanna date.
Shit’s gonna hurt if things don’t go your way. But, down the line, you’ll be thankful that you found out it wasn’t to be when you did.

I lot of people talk about that sort of Friendzoning because of how sad it is. It also helps that there are plenty of sad and/or dense guys (and girls) in that pathetic situation.
