Twilight sparkle:well I’m the best you got
I was spanked a lot as a kid. It made me into a massive pervert with a submissive rape kink.
He was taking her socks and sniffing them.
No, smart alek. It’s a confusing smokescreen for a weak part of his statement that relies on the reader to insert their own meaning, probably to protect his opinion from criticism by making it harder to argue against. It’s a statement with no face-value, except what the reader imagines.
Cut the crap, fake “good old days” boi who was never hit.
None of the times my father hit me really helped in any way. You think it stops them doing (thing)? No, because they don’t understand the connection. You got to actually explain what they did wrong.
We don’t change this stuff
becausewe’re sloppy liberals but because it is actually ineffective.(Heck, conservatives even admit it’s lazy and doesn’t do much, but it’s ok because it “builds character” or smth.)
he probably lied
Well, I mean…. I don’t remember being spanked but I turned out okay. Compared to other kids and especially my siblings I never really caused any trouble. But I guess it’s a kid-by-kid basis kind of thing?
Realistically I think it’s a 50-50 kind of thing because I can see how liberal ideas could have made recent generations less obedient and more troublesome but imo if you really study how people lived a hundred years ago, sometimes it does kind of look like children were abused. I mean if you even just look as far back as the 1940s, women were still considered “improper” or even near sinful if they dared to talk or wish to be treated like a normal human being. The attitude had been slowly fading over the decades leading up to then but it was still there. So in that regard I don’t really trust the logic of “the old way” of living. Not always at least.
A lot of people cling to the “back in my day people respected one another” thing in a similar way you see people make a big deal of “southern hospitality”. But as a southerner of the USA I can promise you one thing at least - southern hospitality is a myth. A huge myth that’s been going on since forever.
There’s plenty of nice people out there yeah but the more, eh “disciplined” some people are the more you notice it’s all a bunch of bullshit - fake happy faces everyone puts on where they pretend to be closely knit neighbors who love each other and do the Ned Flenders at each other, but behind closed doors everyone badmouths the fuuuuuck out of each other. It’s a very odd attitude that I think warrants some studies. I think it’s connected to the same mentality we’re talking about, at least in some minor or distant way. Kids might have been more afraid to make noise 50 years ago, but did they really grow up to be better people because they were disciplined through spanking? As opposed to other forms of punishment? I don’t think it really mattered. Or who knows maybe it’s still necessary for certain kinds of people.

You don’t understand that it’s an insult?
Shitheads?
Spike: “How do you like it huh!?” Spank “do you like it!? I bet you do you dirty little…” Spank Spank Spank
Twilight: “oh Celestia! Spike! Ah! Ah! Ah!”
@DHG BRONY
Just take away the kids social media for a few days/a week. It’ll probably feel like more of a punishment.

-Abuse
This is why we have kids acting like shitheads. Parents are too afraid of disciplining their kids because they’re afraid of someone screeching “abuse.”
