Windows 8.1, that is…
Those will only be necessary if your computer isn’t eligible to upgrade to Windows 10.
HERE, TAKE THESE!

Those older games can be allowed to run if you use a no-CD patch.
Actually, the compatibility with old games is about the same as 7 and 8.
Though, what games are you referring to specifically?
@SuppliedRelic
Yeah.

I can understand not wanting to go through the trouble of upgrading and then having to familiarize yourself with a vastly different operating system than the one you are used to.
another part of why I don’t really like 10 is because I’ve seen numerous people crying about old-ish games no longer working on 10. UNACCEPTABLEEEE!!
True, but there are some people who just don’t want to upgrade, like Nataniel below.
The people you talk about are probably Apple fanboys or Linux fanboys.
I’ve used all versions of Windows, well, except for the first 3, actually.
Not as deeply as 7, 8, and now 10, though. And I have had better performance on 10 than 7 or even 8, my PC boots up much faster than 7 ever did, and games just seem to run better.
I mean, not by much, considering I use a custom rig that I spent like $1300 on.
This is very true. I feel like most of the complaints people have stem from their unrelenting hatred of Microsoft.
@Mike
Exactly. Google has been collecting data from their mobile OS for years. You don’t see people complaining too much about that. In fact, Android and Windows still hold the majority of market share for their respective platforms.
I went Norton Commander>95>98>XP>7.
Two encounters with Vista - as a preinstall on mom’s laptop(back when Vista just went out and you were screwed with no drivers for XP rollback) and, surprisingly, at my internship place. It was okay there somehow. Maybe my VM was powerful enough for what I needed it to do.
Yep.
Also, with android, you can’t turn off privacy controls.
Well, I can agree that 7 is still good, XP is pretty much outdated at this point.
Though, I think we can all agree ME was absolutely terrible.
Also, I’ll support what you said. You can turn pretty much all of the stuff that might be a problem off without really disrupting anything you might do on day to day basis. I did right away, and not only have I never had a problem, it’s never reverted either.
So it may have a DX12 support. I won’t get 10 unless games i’m actually interested and OWN will DEMAND DX12. Like when I had to update to 7 from XP because Battlefield 3 didn’t run on it.
Also I hate skeuomorphic design. It just seems to yell “I’m flashy, look at me!” And it’s a bit distracting tbh.
Thank you! I really can’t deal with that outdated UI.
Oh, I totally agree.
Played MP beta on 7. Not worth buying. Bethesda took a dump on yet another game.
That’s coming about soon, I think the new Doom game is going to use it.
Maybe I’ll give it a try when games will demand DX12. I’ll download the Enterprise version tho.
Well, they don’t for me, so those “sources” are bullcrap. And they aren’t forced if that’s what you’re worried about. It’s the same as Windows 7 and 8, it notifies you of updates, it doesn’t install them automatically.
Also, 7 is overrated and the UI hurts my eyes.
loads of sources say they do turn back on and you can’t purge that crap completely.
so far i’m okay on my 7x64Ult.
