Oh, she’d find it drab I’m sure and look for any opportunity to make it more appealing.
Although I’m not so sure about how Rarity would react to having the common room in a dungeon.
Well, Snape was the head of Slytherin, but there’s also Horace Slughorn and Regulus Black (Sirius Black’s brother). I think there are others but that’s all I can say for sure. Slytherin is possibly more vulnerable to housing dark wizards than other schools, but it’s by no means evil, otherwise I don’t think Hogwarts would tolerate its presence.
Edited
Sirius was a Gryffindor. That’s part of the reason his family disowned him. As for the rest of Slytherin, there are a few named characters, but they’re so bare-bones that most of their personality comes from fanon.
Though cunning/manipulation is an important part of Slytherin, ambition is a key point as well. And the only member of the Mane Six other than Rarity with an ambitious goal is Rainbow Dash.
you know just out of curiosity, who else was in Slytherin? Was there any big names that we learned about who didn’t just join voldermort because he threatened them? Was Harry’s god father (can’t remember his name to save my life) a Slytherin? Doesn’t most of Slytherin join voldermort near the last book? oh well i’m just curious. Haven’t watched or read one of the stories in a long time.
Also I can clearly remember one time Rarity actually manipulates someone else for herself but can’t remember any other. Its the time when she manipulated the post stallion because he got her order wrong (which should have been taken care of as quickly as possibly anyway). If you remember any others please tell me. I might remember a lot of Rarity’s good moments and may have the tendency to forget her bad ones.
She’s also done it for personal gain too though. Besides which, Slytherin isn’t about manipulation, it’s basically about ambition and fraternity.
Oh no I understand. A lot of people often judge groups (in this case the houses) based on the most memorable characters in them, and since Draco was basically supposed to be Harry’s rival it was natural that he would be the opposite of everything Harry is.
I wasn’t actually saying being ambitious is selfish, I was just saying that she is more likely to use her cunning and manipulation for others more than for her self. We have seen it in the show itself as well, Rarity manipulating others to help her friends that is. But I probably am coming across as sort … housist… I guess. My apologizes for that, but my main point still stands that Rarity could do just as well in Ravenclaw as she would in Slytherin.
You’re still going on the belief that being ambitious and cunning means that you’re selfish though, and as I said before that’s simply not the case. Ambition simply means that you have a drive to succeed and do well, and Rarity is definitely ambitious and at times even a little self-serving. Remember Severus Snape? Head of Slytherin House. Really, the only reason people think ill of Slytherin is because that’s the school Draco Malfoy came from - if he was from Hufflepuff we’d think they were equivilent to the dangerously insane.
And who says ambition or cunning has to be used solely for oneself?
Two major points that I think show her Slytherin traits well are her negotiating skills in “Putting Your Hoof Down” (where she was helping Fluttershy with her cunning) and “Rarity Takes Manehatten” (where her ambition towards winning the fashion contest lets her help Coco land a dream position).
Not all Slytherins are evil, nor do their traits necessarily lead down that path. I’d use my best friend as an example, since he’s a Slytherin, but his stated goal is to become an Evil Overlord, so that’d be a bad choice.
EDIT: (and I just realized that that’s exactly what you were already saying, so let’s just say I was agree emphatically instead of trying to construct an argument.)

Well yes self serving would have been a better way of saying it but it didn’t really occur to me. And while Rarity is ambitious and cunning she just doesn’t really seem like a Slytherin as she would use her cunning to help others out more than using it for herself. I’m not saying she wouldn’t use it for herself but she would use it to help others more, just like the show has shown us.
I think you mean ‘self serving’. Slytherin isn’t all about selfishness - it just has a tendency to get those types of people as those types tend to be ambitious and cunning.
Your right but she isn’t really that self preserving. She may not like to get down and dirty but if she needs to she will absolutely do so. Your points are also fairly logical, I just think she puts a little more value in originality than she does her cunning. Although she does manipulate others to help her friends a lot so I could go either way. The hat would probably take a little longer than normal to sort her.
Rarity is fairly ambitious and cunning when she wants to be, and ‘fraternity’ seems like a perfect representation of her desire to climb the social ladder. Of course, I really can’t fault your logic either so… hm.
I’d have to say Rarity is more represented by Ravenclaw if we are going by what traits you’ve included. She is far more creative, original and puts more emphasis on individuality than any other of the main 6. By the sound of Slytherin traits though none of the main 6 would really get in. Applejack seems hard to place with those traits. She seems like a mix of Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. I don’t know where I’d put Applejack but all of your other placements seem like logical points.
Ravenclaw traits tend to be; intelligence, wit, wisdom, creativity, originality, individuality, and acceptance. To me, this seems like the perfect school for Twilight Sparkle, who basically embodies all of that, as well as Pinkie Pie who is pretty smart for how she acts and certainly one of a kind. Starlight Glimmer might also belong here.
Gryffindor traits tend to favor bravery, nerve, chivalry, courage, and daring. This is ideal for Applejack and Rainbow Dash.
Slytherin traits focus on resourcefulness, cunning, ambition, self-preservation, and fraternity. Definitely Rarity. Another potentialf or this school is Sunset Shimmer,
Hufflepuff idealizes the traits of dedication, hard work, fair play, patience, kindness, tolerance, unafraid of toil, and loyalty. This is a good place for Fluttershy. Other good placements include Bulk Biceps and Derpy.
Spike would be a house elf or something I don’t know.

Sunset in Slytherin is obvious, they value ambition most and that’s what caused her to go off the rails for a while. Starlight I’m curious what she would be in, I know this picture was done before she was even planned to exist at all but it’s interesting to think about.
Twilight and Applejack in Slytherin, due to their pride in their family pedigree and their willingness to always stick to old traditions.
Pinkie and Spike in Griffondor for their unpredictable natures, creativity, and bravery.
Rarity and RD in Hufflepuff for their Loyalty and generosity, willing to do anything for a friend.
And Flutteryshy in Ravenclaw, due to her soft spoken nature and preference to support indirectly.
Derpy would be a squibb
AJ is a ‘Puff. Loyal, hardworking, tries to be friendly to any new people she meets? Definitely Hufflepuff.
Fluttershy would also fit in well at Hufflepuff. She made a dragon cry for her friends’ sake, after all.
Derpy, for all her well meaning, would actually fit in well in Gryffindor for her recklessness. Never thinks twice about what she can or can’t do when she decides she’s going to help.
Spike is a bit of an unknown, because you don’t often see him included in this sort of thing, but he is the assistant to a librarian-princess. That has to show something of Ravenclaw in him (especially as the most ambitious/cunning things we have from him are wooing Rarity and being bad at setting up Owloycious*).
Pinkie defies all logic and is somehow in all the houses at once.
*I can never remember how to spell that bird’s name…
