I wonder where that helmet ended up anyway, since she was suddenly wearing her regular hat again after reappearing in the box. Did it accidentally get left in the manticore?

The easiest answer is that the manticore would know to vomit her up (it didn’t chew her, only swallowed, and bowed at the end of the performance), leaving Trixie humiliated but alive.

I would really like somebody to ask this guy what Trixie was thinking as she launched herself. Did she at least have an out that wouldn’t have looked as impressive? She seemed genuinely frightened that she was about to… well, get seriously injured, if not die. That seems like an unwise thing to do.

Given how often Trixie and Star Swirl (beards be upon him) are drawn without room in their hats for their horns, I’m starting to wonder if those things are maybe flexible enough around the base that they can be, I dunno, pointed in different directions.

The whole stunt looked more dangerous to the manticore than to the person/pony acting as a cannonball. Such a pointy helmet and velocity could seriously injure the manticore.
