“Your ideas about fiction are inferior to my ideas about fiction, therefore my ideas about fiction are fact and if you disagree you are wrong.”
That’s very unfair. Again, I just pointed out the way I see it, which you’re free to agree or disagree with. Why is it that if give my side then I’m “forcing” it to be right, but its not the case when you’re doing the same thing?
My argument was simply that I don’t believe porcupine quills could pierce an older dragon’s scales. That’s it. And to be honest, I didn’t even take it that seriously until you decided to make a drama scene out of someone saying anything that wasn’t just another joke in the rollercoaster. Again, I wasn’t trying to frustrate you.
I know, its just a silly image. I was simply unaware that it meant we weren’t allowed to say anything that wasn’t another butt-joke. How exactly can someone be trying to sound smart about a picture of a cartoon dragon with quills on his ass? My original point was simply me giving my opinion, which I thought would lead into a conversation, yes. I had no idea it would turn so ugly all of a sudden. Or should I’ve just said “you,‘re right” from the getgo so you wouldn’t think I’m just trying to sound smart about it?
Point is, yes there’s still so much about dragons that are just headcanons at this point, which is why I initially said why I didn’t think Garble would be affected by it, but then admited it was possible he might since we don’t know how fast a dragon’s scales harden.
“If you have always enjoyed my art for what it is then why couldn’t you just take this silly picture at face value instead of having to be right about something?”
I always have. I just thought to point out something that didn’t fully sit with me the one time. I know why you make these pics and I fully appreciate it, so how in the world could I have known that instead of just replying with something such as “its a super porcupine” or “I don’t think his scales are that hard yet”, you would instead go into a rant about how frustrating it is when people do anything other than joke about this stuff?
Also, I just want to point out, I never turned this personal. All I did was say how maybe you should ignore posts like that if arguing about something causes you so much distress.
You make pictures for fun and to make others happy. I know you don’t need some random bp to tell you this but trust me, you’ve succeeded, and honestly, I admire you for it. But I don’t think that should mean people should be forbidden from ever giving serious opinions and discussing about whatever implications the picture may have. If you don’t enjoy it, just ignore it alltogether instead of allowing it to bring your mood down.
Goihoihoi. ;3
Butthurt over a butthurt dragon.
“Your ideas about fiction are inferior to my ideas about fiction, therefore my ideas about fiction are fact and if you disagree you are wrong.”
What even is your argument anymore? That you think quills can’t pierce a dragon’s hide or are you just arguing the difference between thickness and toughness? Because let me tell you, I don’t care.
Of all the things to point out. Its a silly image, why are you looking so much into it?
Luna shouldn’t get sunburned and Pinkie shouldn’t be able to blow into her hoof and make fingers.
You’re not trying to start a conversation you’re just trying to look smart over something that doesn’t even need an argument. You’re trying to point out logical fallacies in a silly picture and in doing so you’re killing the joke.
And now you’re also being condescending and making this personal. Good job!
If you have always enjoyed my art for what it is then why couldn’t you just take this silly picture at face value instead of having to be right about something?
Moreover, if you wanted to just have a conversation, why have you ignored everything I said after the word “cartoon”.
I don’t want to argue about this, I don’t want to think about the logistics of this, I just wanted to post something funny.
Hey, I was just pointing out something I disagreed with. I’ve always enjoyed your art for what it is, just don’t see why its so frustrating to talk about it, or why the need for the “its a cartoon” argument. I mean, then we shouldn’t talk about it at all, right? But I wasn’t intending to annoy you, it was just a conversation, sheesh.
If talking to anyone who disagrees with you about anything is so frustrating, then just ignore the replies.
I mean, isn’t that an option too?
@thps48
Considering you don’t seem capable of reading/grasping simple concepts, I suspect any response should be unintellible to you. “Mock opinions you disagree with” was it?”. That’s really all one needs to know about you.
There probably should be a point where somepony should ask “Why?” However, I suspect your potential response will be about as unintelligible as your previous responses, if not more. XD
I’m sick of having to defend humorous pictures of cartoon dragons.
Cartoons aren’t real and dragons aren’t real. Plus, we know next to nothing about MLP dragons. People may insert dragon lore from different properties and make headcanons based on that, but that doesn’t make any of it canon.
All we know is that Spike’s scales are thick enough that you can stick sewing pins in them without causing pain, which really doesn’t say anything because you can do the same thing to your foot if you have enough callus.
And this is assuming he’s even speaking the truth and not just numbed by his crush, which seems to give him superpowers like floating and conjuring pink hearts, so being distracted from physical discomfort isn’t much of a stretch.
Not to mention that physics in the show are pretty much what the plots demands.
I just draw pictures that I think will make people smile, which seems to work everywhere but on this site. The ridiculously meticulous tag police and the overly analytical people are just sucking all of the fun out of posting anything here.
He’s still a baby, Garble is not. Its logical that dragon scales don’t remain the same forever.
But I guess we can assume they haven’t changed as much from baby to teen, so ok.
I didn’t mean thickness doesn’t matter, but assuming a piercing object can penetrate anything so long as its longer than said element is thick, its wrong. More relevant if we’re talking about a dragon scales, i think.
Edited
“Thick scales, can’t feel a thing!”
Yes, it has always been about the thickness of the scales
Had it been about toughness, Rarity’s pins would not have had the capacity to be shoved into Spike’s scales. They would have broken before they penetrated Spike’s scales enough to actually stay put.
Its never been about the thickness, but the toughness.
Higher thickness doesn’t automatically mean a material’s more resistant.
Or maybe the porcupine had bodkin point quills?
I doubt dragon scales are thicker than porcupine quills are long.
