I don’t think they forgot the ending of “Magic Duel” at all. She may have been “forgiven”, but it didn’t mean the relationship between Trixie and Twilight was all fine and dandy afterwards. Twilight still knew Trixie as that pony always trying to… well, boast and show off, being about as annoying as Discord to her.
 
And lol at Starlight being a bloody demon.

Oh, lookie here. The main reason why I hated the episode.
 
(Alongside the writeres outright forgetting the end of “Magic Duel”, Trixie losing some character development as a resault, and finally, Twilight being a bitch to Trixie when she has a bloody demon living inside her house. And yes, I AM talking about starlight.)
 
But that is just me.
