I… was not even talking about OP? That one BP made a comment about people considering canon to be whatever they want, and I used an image macro to point out that’s called “headcanon”.
I do not see op considering this canon in any way, except the screenshots.
“Lying once”? No, she made it sound like the Ursa Major part was a normal part of her bragging, and her act basically fell to “I’m better than all of you because I’m awesome and your not, so watch, plebs”. She then beat them - not at their own game but with childish antics to make them look bad - and failed spectaculary when pushed to do the thing that she bragged about being better than for. It tarnished her reputation, that’s why you don’t lie about deeds you’ve done.

iirc the original episode would’ve run for 45 minutes
Wait, what? WhoWhenWhereHowWhy? Trixie originally being a guy I knew about– did anyone ever say what Guy!Trixie’s name was?– but I don’t remember hearing that the original pitch was way overtime before.
Also, yeah, Trixie got shafted pretty hard in Boast Busters for somepony whose stage act was built around BIG TALK, and who did her level best to stand up to a giant freakin’ space bear she was in no way equipped to handle; it’s not like she was claiming to have been in the Royal Guard and singlehoofedly stopped an invasion or something. I still don’t think the Mane Six were being the horrid OOC monsters the episode’s detractors usually make them out to be– they were jerks, but not to any superawful degree– but a bombastic performer is absolutely in the right to dress down a bunch of hecklers, and the ease with which she did so made it look like that was just a regular part of the show.
That was kind of the secondary takeaway from Boast Busters and Magic Duel… she got her life completely ruined because she made the one boast that some challenged kids could try to make her live up to. You could make the argument that she could have been less of a toad at the end of Boast Busters, but then again she just survived a spacebear attack, had all her belongings turned to rubbish, and her livelihood and reputation vanish, along with her pride (I’d believe that up to then she really had thought she was hot shit, and Twi’s basically Superman).
Trixie being more interesting than the average bully antagonist was pretty much an accident of bad story telling; iirc the original episode would’ve run for 45 minutes, so they hacked pieces away just to make it fit.
Wow, so lying once about your skill warranted all of that? Imagine loosing you house and livelihood, being forced to do something you hate for a living, and have your purpose in life made into a hopeless joke. That’s bullshit.
Just have fun with it, people shouldn’t pressure others to accept what is and isn’t canon. There’s nothing wrong with discussing, but not everybody is going to be convinced or change their view, even if you have a solid argument. Some people just like things a certain way, and that’s fine when it comes to cartoons.
people consider what they want canon
That’d be great, except people in the fandom routinely shit on people who mention the comics.
How about.. people consider what they want canon, and screw what anybody else thinks.
Basically anything that happens in the books and comics is considered canon unless something significant happens in the show that completely discredits them…which hasn’t happened yet. But there’s this huge part of the fandom that disregards the comics entirely, for no reason other than “I don’t like them.”
Dude anything of this actually happened.
Without a doubt.
You mean the greatest and most powerful. ;)

You have a point…
That’s all fine and well, young man, but the criminals have to be caught and prosecuted for any of that to happen. Seeing as it that means jackshit for the overall story…
