Actually, it was Mostly due to time constraint and the fact that a Marley analogue would mean having a dead (as a ghost but still..) pony on screen.

Personally, I wanted Discord to be the Scrooge of this story. He seems to fit the maniacal character (well, he’s reformed now, but—I still think he has some of that evil lurking to act out that character!)

While there’s no way in hell it could happen, I would have loved to see them do that final terrifying bit with the Ghost of ~~Christmas~~ Hearth’s Warming Present where ~~Scrooge~~ Snowfall sees something moving under her robes. She asks what it is and the Ghost shows her two starved and half-insane children, Want and Despair. “Beware them both, but especially the girl, for DOOM is written on her forehead.”

“Will no one take them in?”

“Are there no more prisons? And the workhouses, are they closed?”

Like I said, impossible, but my jaw would have dropped off my face to see it.
