To be fair, in Season 1 they were next to each other only once, and then fans ran with it. The pairing (whether fans consider it platonic, or ’shippy) became so popular in such a short time over that one brief moment of them sitting on a bench, it became a regular thing by S2.
 
Meanwhile, Octavia & DJ never interacted or even appeared in the same episode once, until Season 5 long after fans pairing them up (whether platonic or shippy) became a thing.
 
So both were actually influenced by the fanbase.

Because having the fictional version of Lyra and Bon Bon stand next to some stallions proves that the Lyrabon ship could not possibly exist, even though Lyra and Bon Bon also stand next to each other all the time. Including in this episode. Both the ‘fictional’ and ‘real’ versions.

I really don’t get this, what is this supposed to show exactly? Since this was from the Story Twilight was reading it means nothing at all for Lyra and Bon Bon in the show.

I would love if this whole relationship/shipping thing would just end.
