This is my ideal of Prince Blueblood given up his magic for Twilight. As result he is in a lot a pain and his horn is disappearing from it. I hope this inspires a story. I just love the ideal of Blueblood saving Twilight. Why wont anyone write a fanfiction about it! Why does Blueblood have to be a bad guy.
It is was truly edge, it would be an oc in this position.
Frankly, I like the ones that rough him up a bit before he redeems himself. Like, someone who’s just lost their way, and has to earn his happy ending. You’ve got to fall to rise, as they say, and Blue’s pretty high where he is.
Some do, but even those tend to torture him.
And waaaay more do it without meaning to make him better.
Joking aside. There aren’t a bunch of fan fics with Blueboy as a good guy? Huh. Would’ve thought people would leap to write redemption stories.

The thing is that The current Royal system and the past Royal system or other Royal system is different. Luna and Celestia clearly earned it now it seems since it was revealed that they were not always Alicorn (Which I find dumb)
Shining did become Prince via marriage but it didn’t really bring anything much to him. I’m pretty sure he’s still just Captain of guards and that Cadance does all the Royal work or else he would have been in the Leader part of the stadium with the others.
Twilight’s title is from “Merit” even though she did nothing really to “Merit” the title
For Ember. That’s the Dragon Kingdom, we’re talking about the Pony one and Platinum she was there before the current system where you “Earn” your title instead of having it come from your blood line.
And yes I am interested, what are the comics/books your proposing me to look up?
(Should also add that Princess Platinum, at least - daughter of the Unicorn King - definitely seemed to have political power on top of having a title)
Oh, in Princess Spike? Fancy Pants was part of the Canterlot delegation for the Equestria gathering, actually ~~Just one of the “bothersome delegates”, like the ones from Whinnyapolis and Manehattan. (He thought the Canterlot delegation should get free passes to every event and party because they were the host city, but Spike said that didn’t seem fair).
I feel your view that that’s strictly how royalty works in MLP is definitely up for debate, though. True, Twilight was awarded her title based on merit, but there’s nothing saying that’s the general rule ~~ and in fact, we already see cases like title by marriage (Shining Armor, and Rarity saying how she would be a princess after marrying Blueblood), as well as children of rulers having titles (Princess Platinum, Princess Ember, Princess Flurry Heart).
Granted, Flurry Heart hasn’t been stated to be a princess in-show yet, but they did call her one in that (very nice) picture book by show writer Mike Vogel, as well as in the recent Cadence chapter book by G.M. Berrow.

Oh, yeah, I’ve read that one. And hmm, you may have a point there. Thanks for bringing it up. Solar’s Wrath, can I suggest this comics issue, btw? It was pretty interesting, actually.
The comics are now supervisioned by Mhegan Mccarthy, who was producer and story editor for 4 seasons, and in a recent issue Blueblood was shown as a royal diplomat that uses two-faced exploits and antics to make deals.
I think that’s a pretty clear sign he doesn’t take care of Canterlot, he probably lives there but it seems his function is more of a royal one.
Well shouldn’t he be in with the Princesses and leaders? Heck why was Twilight not allowed to be with the others then or else?
Which could have honestly be held by anyone else. You see there is a difference between filling up a role and that role needed. See Celestia’s Role is needed. Cadance’s role is needed. Twilight’s role as a princess isn’t needed.
If you count all the world saving affair then all of her friends should be with her in that place with the Pricnesses and BlueBlood shouldn’t but if you count only titles then sure. But a title doesn’t equal meaningfulness.

Well I remember that ep with Spike trying to keep Twilight Asleep and if I remember correctly. Fancy Pants showed to take care of the city or something like that (May or may not be true, that’s from the top of my head)
But I do know that Fancy Pants is well Top of Canterlot’s society and he’s so important that he’s at all Major Event if not organizing them while we saw BlueBlood once and that was being a douche bag.
Also you still fail to understand how leadership and royalty works in Canterlot. Its not a question of bloodline or name or else. Its a question of deserving your position as a leader… Which Twilight herself doesn’t really deserve much, at least not the way it happened and which still now doesn’t serve much purpose.

In conclusion. Blueblood is a blank useless character and Twilight so far has no reason to be a Princess or an Alicorn since all that she did since season 3 can be done without being an Alicorn or a Princess.
Maybe I’m forgetting something, but I don’t think we’re given any sign of what Fancy Pants actually does, let alone that he takes care of the city. (Feel free to tell me if I’m wrong). For all we know, it might even be that Prince Blueblood is the Duke of Canterlot, and that it’s he who takes care of the city.
Shining Armor was down in the stadium, making the announcements. And if you really believe Twilight doesn’t serve any purpose as a princess after episodes like Trade Ya and Princess Spike, I honestly don’t know if we were watching the same show.
Tell me then why isn’t Shining Armor there? Also at that time. Twilight served no purpose as a Princess and she still arguably doesn’t server any purpose as a Princess so Prince Blueblood being there doesn’t mean anything.
Oh, so Shining Armor isn’t a prince because he simply married a princess? My mistake.
As for Blueblood being more important than Fancy Pants…

He seems to have better seating arrangements, no? In between the Duke and Duchess of Maretonia and the Delegation from Saddle Arabia. And those ponies seated below, that would be Mayor Mare, Fancy Pants, Fleur, Cherry Jubilee… all somewhat important ponies. But the more respectful positions, the fancier ones, closer to the princesses, well, Blueblood is seated amongst those.

Well, in-universe, he’s more important than Fancy Pants, for example.
First of I know taking Lauren’s words as gold is a thing but what she said just sound like a joke first and second if its really what he is. Then what you say isn’t gonna happen ever cus its not how MLP’s royalty works.
He’s of the direct bloodline of one of their closest relatives; The only reason he’s (roughly) 52 generations down the line is that Celestia’s inexplicably lived for centuries. This still makes him their closest living relative in the show, and potentially heir to the throne.
“Lord” is a broad term for a person of authority, mostly but not only nobility. “Duke” is a particular noble rank, usually one of the highest.
