@40kponyguy
Eh she can’t be much worse than me to be fair. I’m nearly 21 and I often struggle to keep attention to stuff for more than 2 hours. With friends I’m much better, but myself, nope :P Plus she sounds like she’s a better reader than me as well :P
@40kponyguy
Ah great. I have quite the imagination when it comes to customisation, but execution I’m not too good at. Like for example I’d love to make pony sculptures, but I am rubbish at doing despite having the ideas :P
Thanks for the offer, but I don’t usually have the time to read stories sadly.
@EddersCPFC
My daughter is a bit too bright for her own good sometimes. She just lacks the attention span to play anything bigger than a small skirmish game yet.
For example, she’s read most of those pony stories (G M Berrow I think they’re done by), and she’s 7 in September.
Just wish my lad was a bit quicker. Struggling a bit getting him to read, although he’s not doing too badly.
He’s a lot like his mum.
My daughter’s like a little blonde female version of me.
@40kponyguy
Ah it doesn’t sound that hard to be fair. Do you find a lot of the customisation (like aspects 3-6 you mentioned) just as fun as playing the actual game?
@EddersCPFC
The basics of 40k aren’t that hard to learn. 2-3 games using the same army and some stuff becomes second nature.
However, the core rulebook looks like a telephone directory, it’s that thick. Add to that each army has it’s own rules and back story. (All infantry use the same stat line, and all vehicles have the same basic rules, but many things have special rules which may give them an edge, or in some cases a hindrance).
It’s a very complete hobby though. There’s several aspects.
collecting a force
personalizing your army
conversion work (changing poses, weapons, even scratch building stuff)
huge back story, which can keep you busy for years on it’s own.
building terrain for games.
painting the models (some only do this and don’t even play).
@40kponyguy
Is Warhammer 40K complex to play? I know you have quite young kids so if they can understand the rules then that is pretty amazing if it really is!
So it was your interest in 40K then which lead you into the pony fandom? Interesting, it’s a nice origin story to have from one of your interests to lead you into another.
@EddersCPFC
Originally, I started the Hello Kitty marine army as a bit of a joke after painting up my daughter’s bedroom.
Also in the hope she might take an interest in the game. (which worked, although she uses my small Blood Angels army nowadays, or my Orks).
Anyway, when I took those figures to the gaming club, one of the lads there had gotten in to MLP. So, I said
“Tell you what, I’ll bulk this force out, you do a pony themed army to fight them. Then we’ll video it and put it up on youtube”.
Hasn’t happened.
He didn’t have the finances to do a pony themed army, so I watched a few episodes with my daughter to get the characters and colour schemes right.
@BlazingDazzlingDusk
Thanks. Been threatening to upload a pic of both these together. Was considering putting that troop transport in the shot as well (Goodbye Kitty), but figured that may have got some bad responses.

Certainly. Terrain I’m not too fussy about, but converting figures and adding that personal touch is a lot of fun.
There’s a few really good crossover stories with ponies about too.
I’ll link a couple of them if you’re interested.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

That sounds exciting! I have been looking forward to seeing that for ages.
Yeah.
On a side note, I may have something else to upload here very soon.
Page 1 of that Dazzlings Return comic I kept meaning to get drawn out.
Was actually pretty easy to get done. Not much detail, and only 5 scenes.

The rest I think you can figure out.
No problem! Well, now that they’re here they look great. Yeah, that’s probably a good idea, it might get a bad reaction.
