So Princess Twilight is dead and Equestria has no ruler. Who is next up in the heap/line of succession?

Something made me think about this just yesterday, and not much later it starts getting comments again. Coincidence? ….yeah, totally but it’s still cool.

Divergence and convergence

I don’t remember if I or anyone else has asked this but what would happen if the two Twilight’s combined into one being? Like ghost Twilight possess Zombie Twilight or does possession only work on living organisms?

It’s like there’s two Twilights now. They were identical the second they split apart, but now of course they’re experiencing different stuff as different creatures so their memories and personalities would eventually diverge. Once Celestia puts them back together the regular pony Twilight will get the memories from both :D

I’m guessing the ghost is the original twilight, since it’s the soul, and the body is just a mental copy based on the remaining synaptic connections

They both have full sentience. It’s basically like two Twilights now. The difference is one is ghoulish with ghost instincts and the other now craves brains. Technically they’re both undead right now, but Celestia can fix it XD

Philosophical zombie: an entity that can act just like a conscious being: capable of communication, expressing emotions, etc, but isn’t actually sentient, it is merely an automaton that acts sentient. No emotions, no awareness, no consciousness, nothing, no internal experience
 
What I’m wondering is since this thing lacks a soul does that means it’s a philosophy zombie, just the leftover brain functions running on autopilot without a consciousness at the wheel?

Body still has a brain, clearly.

But how is the body conscious if the soul has been separated? unless it’s just a philosophy zombie, moving around, talking, and acting like twilight(plus the brain eating part) but with no actual sentience at the driver’s seat

They’ll be fine once they’re put back together which either Celestia or Zecora can do. Twi only “died” because her soul was separated from her body in the first place so she has some time before the “death” becomes permanent :D

Man I feel sorry for both Twilight’s here. Zombie Twi would probably love to answer those questions just like Ghost Twilight.
 
But her nature is making it hard to think about that.
