The ponies do have a genuine and deep value for stuff like friendship, love, and other such nice things though. They don’t need the windigoes or any outside force to value those things just as much. There’s no ‘paranoid edge’ in Equestria’s society or anything like that, that’s a nonsense suggestion because the ponies are genuinely nice and genuinely value those things like friendship and love and etc, you get the idea.

The windigoes are kept at bay because the ponies are happy and value those things and are enjoying their friendship, love, and so on, but they are irrelevant to the fact that the ponies do indeed genuinely value and enjoy those things on their own power, and they’d continue to value and enjoy them every bit as much even if the windigoes didn’t exist. Bleh, hard to word this right, but yeah, you get the idea. I’m too tired to make the post perfect or something.

Starlight calling out ponies for using the holiday as an excuse for lavish spending and merry-making is amazing.
I want Starlight to keep being a stranger to captalism and materialism.

And wow, Twilight and Starlight look very similar in this drawing :3

They look similar in the show as well since Starlight is a clone of Twilight.

The fact that there IS, though, makes Equestria that much more interesting. Ponies live under a different moral framework than humans, one where the consequences of their actions are a lot more direct and immediate. That makes for a very different society–nicer, perhaps, but with a paranoid edge to it.

I wasn’t trying to attack you (and my sincerest apologies if I did) I was just trying to give you a heads up. Many times people have tried to discuss this idea, and I’m just tired of people thinking too hard about stuff/making up their own version of what happened/calling Twilight a hypocrite.
Once I saw the picture I decided to take the initiative by trying to explain things in the nicest way possible. Too bad my version of “nicest way possible” is direct at best, and downright rude at worst. I’m still working on that, I promise.

I can totally see the satire. And I would’ve enjoyed it more if it weren’t for my past experiences. But that’s none of your business.

Even back in Season 2 I thought that the windigos weren’t needed. They basically turned a lesson about charity and good deeds into “do X thing or die”. X thing just so happens to be partying, therefore nobody had a problem with it.
It’s simply a threat covered in balloons and sweets , which muddies the waters greatly.

And now I feel like a hypocrite myself for criticizing people who think too hard about stuff. Eh.

I know That I’m not intitled to say this at this point, but please, don’t let my attitude ruin your mood. And by all means, have a nice day.

Thanks.

I have a feeling that humor or funny comics might not be your thing, background pony. I’ll take your words into consideration.

Jolly cooperation/being nice to people every day of the year is a great idea. Its what I try to follow in my daily life.

20+ years of television trying to sell me junk and repetitive holiday music have kinda bothered me a little, but I try not to ruin the holidays for other people.

Might as well add “Op is trying to start s***” tag in there.

Alright, now imagine if the windigos weren’t there. Would it have made less sense to be friendlier to each other (first story) or to stop someone who wants to impose his personal view of removeing all forms of fun and merriment on everyone (second story)?

Once again I say to you, my friends. A person’s intention doesn’t matter as much as their actions.

I’m sure that if the spirits didn’t appear to stop him and the Windigos didn’t exist, he would’ve personally seen the results of his decision and he would’ve tried to reverse it. He was a decent individual after all.

A little food for thought. But then again, what do I know.
